transfers accepted to Berkeley/UCLA

In light of the other thread in which everyone posted their stats that got into the Ivies, can people accepted to Berkeley/UCLA post their stats/EC's/essays? People might deride me for asking as getting into these schools is much easier, but I just want to get a general idea. Anything can help.

Be wary; the stats of CCers accepted to UCLA/UCB will have a tendency to be inflated in comparison to the regular acceptees.

This is true.

ok i just read someone with 3.83 GPA rejected to UCLA BizEcon.

Now I'm scared.

Yeah, that happens a lot. I knew people at my CC who had as high as 3.86 and were rejected from Bizecon (no TAP) while TAP kids with 3.6s got in. That's why I laugh, a lot, when people around here try to argue that TAP doesn't help.

im sorry but wth is tap?

transfer alliance program

Well actually that is exactly what we have been saying. TAP is helpful if you have a low gpa. You can not honestly say the difference was TAP alone. The UCLA counselor I spoke with told me and I qoute "With your gpa TAP will not make a difference". Basically the only reason those 3.6's were considered was because of TAP. If you have a 3.86 but you do not have the pre reqs done or you won't have igetc finished you probably will not get in (TAP or no TAP).

Transfer Alliance Program between select CCs and UCLA. Basically a contract that is pinned to a school's honors program which states that if the student completes whatever the agreement is for honors at that school, they're allowed priority consideration for admissions to the College of Letters and Science.

And sweetny007, CLEARLY.

I think I've missed the most recent round of this discussion over here. I was mostly referring to people over a year ago who had an endless debate over this, and whose arguments generally consisted of "I don't have TAP, and I got in, so it doesn't matter". Which didn't really prove anything.

ahh I see. Nevermind see I always get disturbed by those people who say the exact opposite. Something along the lines of "I have TAP so I am guaranteed to get in" or "If you do not have TAP you will not get in".

Yeah people don't seem to understand that there aren't any guarentees for acceptance at UCLA, ever.

wth? how come my cc doesnt have tap? and my cc is like 30 mins from ucla!

It just depends on the school. It takes a pretty dedicated Honors Chair to set up the TAP process and deal with UCLA. Also, they're reviewed every few years by UCLA in order to maintain the agreement, which some schools/administrators aren't willing to deal with. There might not be a huge demand for it at your school? I don't know. There are different situations.

Sweetny007,

I'm an English major applying this Fall, w/ 3.88 current gpa, will finish igetc by the end of spring, but not complete all of my pre-reqs for UCLA (2/5 of foreign language requirement). Do those pre-reqs hurt my chances? Btw, my school has TAP.
