Hey, I was just curious as to how the transition from CC to UW was? Did you find you were well prepared, or had to study even more, etc/

Thanks!

Not much change except that easy classes with curves suck.

Thanks for the fast reply.

How does that bell curve work? Is it just the average grade=C and anything above is a A? Or do you mind explaining?

I was planning on transferring straight into Biochem and I’d have to take pchem right off the bat, and was hoping my cc prepared me enough for UW.

I’m not entirely sure, but I think they just set the median at a certain point (3.1-3 at Foster) and then they have to “fit” the whole class in this bell curve. So a half will get below the median and a half above it.

It sucks because if the class is doing great overall, they still have to fit everybody into this bell curve and that’s how you end up with a 3.4 for 94.5%.

In terms of preparation - don’t worry. If you did fine in your CC you will do fine at the UW. Just work hard and that’s it.

Another big change for me has been that we have to work on group projects quite often. I think it’s great because you get to know people and it’s also fun. But I’m not sure if every department is like this.

I just recently graduated at UW.
I had rtransferred from a CC

CC gpa: 3.92
UW gpa: 3.82 (departmental: 3.87)

The only thing I personally noticed is that I went from being the smartest person in a class to being just the top group of the smartest people

I had the opposite experience as seatac. I had more group projects (by far) at CC.
