I had my application in by the deadline but they didn’t receive one of my transcripts until late April. I got that e-mail saying it was being reviewed the first week of May but I still haven’t heard anything yet. I’m wondering if I should call or not?

CALLED 2 MINUTES AGO. I GOT IN!!!

“A congratulations are in order, you were accepted on the 28th and shouled be receiving your packet in the mail within the next week”

:-)

anyone else having trouble signing into mylmu? every time i try it says “authentication failed”

calexifornia-Congratz!!! What were your stats?

Am I the only one who didn’t find out their decision yet?

@Linsper - THANKS! I’m so excited! I’m still waiting on USC though.

Oh and I’m a theatre major with a 3.5 cumulative.

Oh sweeet! I’m still waiting on USC too.

linsper!!!

You’re over here too, huh? I’m still waiting for LMU’s decision. Did you apply for Production? I already committed to SC, but it would be nice to get a freaking decision from these people.

@airborne

call the admissions office on monday & they’ll let you know what’s up

Haha, hi airborne! I don’t blame you for choosing USC, the best film school in the country. It’s a no brainer. I did apply for Production. If I get accepted to USC, I’ll see you there. LMU seems to be slow…I’m calling on Monday to ask about my decision since I know for a fact they reviewed mine on Wednesday. I suggest you do the same.

I got rejected. I’ll be going to Chapman University in the fall. I’m fine…

linsper what about usc? no go?

me neither… chap’s got a great film program though with their own back lot and stuff right?

So I could not wait any longer and decided to fly all the way lo LA. I currently live in San Francisco anyway. So I visited LMU today and asked them about my aplication. Guess what?! They said I was accepted this morning and they gave me my acceptance letter right away. So yes. I am accepted.

hahahaha colej you seriously FLEW to la? you couldn’t call them? hahaha well hey that must’ve been exciting… congratz i’ll see you there next year?

OH and riverrun i can’t sign into mylmu either but i’m assuming that’s because i JUST got my packet and paid my deposit today…

calexifornia-I was rejected there too. I’m happy with Chapman though. They’re suppose to be building a huge backlot resembling NY and Paris. They’re on the same level as LMU with film, maybe even better.

colej-Congratz! I find it funny you flew all the way there. You could’ve called. Haha.

jesus where is everyone on this forum!? it seems like bunches of people were posting daily in late april/early may… i want to meet other transfers!!! haha

come out come out wherever you are!

Guys, Chapman is ranked much higher in film than LMU, not to bag on LMU’s film, but I got into SC, Chapman, and LMU, and LMU although being very high, is not in the top 5.

FilmFanatic - my brother actually just graduated high school and traveled to a bunch of different film schools when he was applying to colleges and he said that LMU is currently ranked above Chapman. I think he said it was like USC, NYU, Columbia, LMU, Chapman, UCLA as far as universities though. I mean, I don’t know if there is an actual ranking or if it is right but that is the information that was given to him and he chose LMU film school over Chapman. Cal State Northridge also has an amazing film program.

Not that any of this matters to me, I’m a theatre major :-)

FilmFanatic:

I challenge you to provide any evidence or ranking that says Chapman film > LMU film. Otherwise, just shut…you know what to do.

I hope there’s no fighting going on around here…

To change the subject, I got my rejection letter from LMU today. I was surprised to see it was quite personal like the person wrote it only for me. It was from the Director of Admission who has talked to my parents a few times on the phone. When he told my decision over the phone, he did say I can appeal or try for a second choice major. Some of the letter said…

“The Dean of LMU’s School of Film & Television has asked me to write you in connection with your application to the Production program at LMU. The Dean feels it is quite likely you would have been admitted in previous years, and turning away such a strong student is not a circumstance we enjoy.”

I have a feeling I was a close call. I mean, I did have a 3.4 which was the average transfer GPA there. Opinions?
