It was great to be accepted at UoR, and its a great chance that I'll end up paying the deposit, but there are some factors that need to be weighed in.

15/65 transfers were given on-campus housing last year and I'm hoping that I will be one of them, but if not, does anyone know how much off-campus housing costs and whether it works well? I really wouldn't want to be missing out on the campus experience as that is a big part of why I ended up transferring to the US. Also, when and how can we apply for housing?

And a final question, is there a facebook group of some sort for accepted transfer students? It seems like there aren't a lot of students here.

Thanks,
-Anton

It’s cheaper to live off campus. Most who do live across the river in the 19th. I’ve been in a few student houses. They were nice, though oddly furnished with cast offs of prior students. That area, btw, is improving and the new dorm next to the Staybridge hotel will (should?) be open this year.

The way to get involved on campus is through any activity club. And lots of kids go off campus for parties anyway because, well, for obvious reasons of relaxed supervision.

Currently in the same situation about housing as a transfer student considering my options. @Anton164 did you receive an on-campus offer?

Doubt my chances for on-campus housing are up there if I submit an app this late in the summer so thought I’d seek recommendations for off-campus housing.

Most of the options I’m looking at now are more than the $4500 estimated room rate (per COA in my FA award). Don’t know what the average rate is across Rochester, but going above that rate would put me over budget (may be able to squeeze some funding from my “board rates” aside). I recognize that the COA is just a guideline, but I hope I haven’t limited my options by sticking to the $4500 budget from the COA. Are there any options left out there that will be affordable for me?

@kane808 I ended up not attending, and didn’t find much more info in this regard. Good luck with housing and UoR! :)

Thanks @Anton164! Good luck to you too, wherever you’ll be attending this fall! :)
