To make matters worse, I spoke with one of the reps yesterday and he said AND I QUOTE
“… the department has had your file since the 28th…” Mind you, someone from the department called me even before that. THEN, when I told him my status hasn’t reflected that the committee is reviewing my app, but I’ve received a lot of correspondence, he replied with a simple, “Well. They are.” double sigh Whatever will I do? Isn’t the rule if the committee is looking at that mug for over a week it’s a no-go? I hope not. :/

Anyways, thanks for your input @kmgphoto. I’m going to try and go abroad (for free) next summer anyways, and hopefully weave it into my curriculum somehow. I don’t want film and trying to make a career out of it to take over my life completely lol.

I think the “one-week rule” you’re referring to is more one-week after your actual status changes, but regardless, I wouldn’t read too much into something like that. That is just something other CC users have come up with and, even though it seems like it may be sort of accurate, is still speculation on their parts. Nobody can know for sure unless they’re on the committee themselves, so my advice is to keep your chin up until you’re rejected because until then you’re still very much in the running.

Also, I called the other day and they said that my app had been already reviewed by the admissions dept. a month ago and that the SCA committee were working on it now. I don’t, however, know how long they’ve been doing that.

ps. How do you plan to go abroad for free? Teaching English? Volunteer program? I’m very curious because traveling is something I’m extremely interested in.

yeees… !!! If they are not familiar faces from nyu, then they are from chapman u… haha apparently we are all willing to be part of the best cinema schools =) hope to be admitted in at least one ! =)

@moniso that is so true. I got a decision from Chapman in my profile but no financial aid. So that kinda makes it clear that I didn’t get into Chapman so SC here I come if you give me the chance lol :-)

I’m freakiiiing out!!! no changes at all in any school… well, i’ve been admitted to radio, film and tv at UT Austin, which is cool… but I seriously want California!!!
I bet you both are accepted!!! just make it official when you have your package;)

My status just changed about an hour ago too. I check it this morning and it was the transfer status, now it’s at the admissions committee. Let’s all hope for a quick turnaround, which usually means good things! Everyone here has got to get into USC. Good luck to everyone!

I applied to SCA production, and I received a phone call a few weeks ago from one of the SCA faculty. we chatted for about fifteen minutes about what films I want to make, what questions I have about SC, and how he liked my supplemental material.

Same day I received an email from director of admission asking for a list of spring classes I’m taking, the conversation progressed to her sending me some kind of catalogue and told me to take some classes this summer in my community college.

Not sure what all this means, but hopefully it’s a good sign.
