Transfers Unite!

Hey all. In the face of the ED Roster thread, I wanted to start one up for students that are applying as transfers.

I'm Renee, I'm currently a freshman at Tufts University and I love absolutely everything about it. So why transfer, right? Don't hate me...but it has more to do with the two facts that A. my mother is an employee of Columbia, and therefore I would receive free tuition, and B. it is much closer to home, and unlike many people I know, I not only love my family, I also LIKE them, lol. That's not to say that I don't love Columbia though! It is an absolutely amazing institution in myriad ways and I would be so privileged to attend it. I just dislike the notion that transfer students are these unhappy people that couldn't tough it out at the college they decided to attend - on the contrary, I'm told that I'll be happy anywhere I go. It will hurt horribly to leave Tufts and the phenomenal people I've encountered here, but Columbia is just above Tufts (LOL and NO i'm not a prestige whore, I know better than anyone that it's about the SCHOOL, not the name...I chose Tufts, didn't I? :-P).

Anyway, anyone else already know that they're transferring? And if so, are you applying anywhere else?

yeah...i am at cornell...i am like 95 percent sure i am leaving. I got accepted to Nwestern, U of Chicago, Rice, Emory as a freshman. Somehow...i ended up here, and I don't really like it here. I am also a presidential research scholar (1 of 45 per grad out of 3,000), which was one of the reasons I attended. I read somewhere that is how they lure top students to come, and I fell for it. I am looking for a more intellectual environment, and would be estatic to go to Columbia, Penn, Chicago, or Duke. I expect to get a 3.6, which is really tough for a freshman at Cornell to acheive.

Hmm, I thought that Cornell does have an intellectual environment. I guess I am wrong.
