Transfers?

@norcaltransfer77, skiboom: Same here. Still waiting.

Alright, I called admissions today. Basically they have two more times where they will release decisions. The next round is about two weeks into May, and the final decisions come out at the end of May. They do this to see how many people accept from the previous group admitted. If more people decline from the first group they let more in on the second and the same process is followed for the third round.

I got in! Notified by email today. I submitted my common application on March 17.

congratzzz! That’s awesome! =)

Did you find out on your portal?

Side note, I submitted my app on the 15th of march but no word yet.

I also got accepted today!
Submitted my common app on Feb 28

@ skiboom Thank you! Yes, they provided me a link on the email which led me to the portal.

@ coughreliever Congratulations!

Congrats.!
and bummed at the same time. I received nothing…

Here’s what I find to be annoying. If I am to be rejected, why not just do it? Why wait and make me suffer? If I am still waiting is that considered a good thing? Or have any rejections been handed out? It just seems sadistic to wait until the end to reject someone.

I got in! I found out yesterday at 7:30pm. I had my completed application in by April 1st.
Can anyone shed light on the financial aid prospects for transfers? Is there any merit-based aid for transfers? I’m a rising sophomore.
I know that for transfers, they’re not need-blind. I forget the term they use, but they’re not need-blind.

To those accepted,

 1. what are your stats?
 2. did your portal change at all? or is it a different link all together?
 3. do you plan on attending? Why/why not?

Thanks!

@norcaltransfer 77

 1. SAT 2150+, High School GPA 3.9+, college GPA 3.9+
 2. The portal changes. It shows “Status Update” on my portal, and clicking the link, you’ll find the admission letter.
 3. Still considering/waiting

By the way, I’m majoring in math.

@norcal

1) I’m a freshman this year. I don’t know if you care about extracurriculars at all but I figure it might help you get a better idea where you stand?
I had a 99.7 GPA in high school, leadership positions in 2 clubs, was heavily involved with theater in and out of school, won some state-level awards and went to nationals with fbla for some team events, and was in national honor society (except they technically kicked me out for not baking enough cookies but it’s still on my diploma SO…oops).
for my SATs -
math - 620
reading - 690
writing - 740
composite - 2050
in college (I’m at umass amherst right now) I got a 3.95 last semester, and I’m in the honors college here, along with a first-year honor society. I had a TA position for intro to psych this semester, and did some work with habitat for humanity and active minds.

2) I first got the link through an email. Subject: Application Status Update. and an email that just said:
Molly,

There has been an update posted to your Brandeis application self-service page at https://admissions.brandeis.edu/status.

If you have any questions, please send a message to Admissions and we will respond as soon as possible.

this took me straight to the offer of admission. if you go onto the portal page, it says:

Status Update
An update to your application was last posted May 1, 2012.
View Update >>

Address stuff…

Your Application
The Admissions Committee has finished reviewing your file. You can view all status updates using the View Update link at the top of the page.

3) i REALLY want to attend. it’s a better school than I’m at right now, especially for psych and (so I’ve heard?) for sociology. at least for sociology, they focus on qualitative methods (which is like fieldwork) vs. quantitative methods (statistics and demographics). I’ve talked to a bunch of people who go there and they’ve all been really awesome and helpful, and they love brandeis. they definitely seem like my type of people. I have a friend there from high school as well, who has nothing but good things to say. also, they’re apparently like the 2nd best LAC (even though they’re a university) to go to if you’re vegan or something, which is pretty awesome.
ANYWAY, the only thing that’s deterring me is financial aid. I’m waiting impatiently for them to let me know about my financial aid package, because that’ll be the thing that makes or breaks it. :l

I hope you get in! :)

Damn, nice stats Dabaichi! Where do you go right now if you don’t mind me asking. You definitely deserved to be accepted!

Mirica, congrats! I hope you get the aid the you need, you sound like you really want to attend. Thank you, and I hope I get in too. After looking at your stats and dibaichi’s I have serious doubts about myself now. I am nowhere near that good.

Don’t be discouraged! You really never know.

@Mirica
I go to Umass Amherst too (and am in the Comcol too). Maybe we’ll both end up transferring.

@Norcal
My GPAs are a lot lower and they let me in on the first round, so there’s hope.
SAT: 2180
HS GPA: 3.1
Univ. GPA: 3.6
I’m enrolled and it’s most likely gonna stay that way. Though it is pretty brutal getting into other schools I might have gone to (like NYU, UNC and grinnell) and just passing them by because I had to respond to Brandeis by the 30th.

No way! I wonder if we know each other, hah. I’m private messaging you right now just so ya know

I actually have a horrendous gpa of only 3.47 but I think my extracurricular activities, taking 11 honors classes and nice recommendation letter made up for it.

If I get accepted, I am almost certain I am going to attend over UCLA. Crazy right?

I don’t know, I don’t think so? Just by reading what alumni are saying about Brandeis, I think it’s an amazing school that would prepare anyone to graduate school. With that said, I think UCLA have way too many people.
