Transfers

hajen, thanks for passing on the information. today i was reading the old message board from last year and i realized that it might be a long time before i hear from cas. the waiting sucks. but o'well, i guess for the next few weeks i'll have to find another pastime beside from checking my application status, and this board. ;)

ya np, and please correct me if im wrong, but it appears to me that for cas freshman admit rates were HIGHER than for transfers? i was under the impression that it was the reverse but guess not?

i called cals...they told me that all decisions will be done by mid-may.

it's tough to transfer into CAS. I'm just lucky that the program that i really wanted wasn't in the CAS (because i'm not sure what my chances would have been otherwise).

anyone know the transfer stats for cals?

i dont know the exact numbers from the top of my head, but the acceptance rate is quite a bit higher for cals than it is for cas

how much is a bit higher?

like 50% of cals are accepted whereas it's much much less for cas...

yeah, that sounds about right.

....hey! that little "cornell has not yet made a decision on your app. blah blah" message has dissapeared. finally!

from last year http://dpb.cornell.edu/irp/pdf/FactBook/Admissions/Undergraduate/Transfers/transbycoll.pdf

yeah, cas is hard to get into but i want to study sociology.

sooner or later we'll all know.

yeah... i called cals this morning and they said that they don't do any of that early stuff... oh well... worth a try... still waiting

yeah tell me about it. i was really surprised at my decision. I was really thinking about first applying to ecology but then i was like "what the hell". Guess my instincts were right

hey! they've finally updated the online thing. In place of "cornell has not yet made a decision on your application" is a blue link that says "Check Your Decision." When i clicked it, it says in big letters "congratulations!!! You have been accepted to Cornell University!!!"

Then, it goes on to say:

Dear Daniel,

Congratulations on your acceptance into the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University! We are very pleased to be welcoming you to Cornell as a transfer student.

This electronic message is not your official acceptance notification. You should be receiving an official acceptance letter from us in the mail shortly. We are also sending you a large packet filled with information about housing, dining, and financial aid.

We are excited at the prospect of your joining the Cornell community and know that you will make a very positive contribution to the university as a future Cornellian. In the meantime, please let us know if we can assist you in any way.

Best regards,

happy! :)

Congrats!!!!!!

Congratulations and Good Luck!

Congrats!

I have no idea if I've just screwed myself over as far as chances. I had a guaranteed transfer and decided not to pursue it, but the CALS Admissions folks e-mailed me recently and told me they'd give me 2 weeks to send my transcript & essay in. So I've sent them in...it's going to be tough to wait and see if they'll still accept me. I can't wait until I get an answer!

okay... so that stupid message is still there... and it's starting to bug me that since they don't update the site every day, there's a good chance that they'll make a decision but it might not go up for a while. argh.... very frustrating.

josiedog33, i don't think they update the status page everyday, you know where the checklist is, but i'm thinking they'll actually update the decision message as the decisions come in. like, if they get it that day they'll get rid of the "no decision yet" message that afternoon/night and then the following night you can check your decision. my guess. but you know what i don't get? why is there time between the message dissapears and the time you can actually "check your decision." so the night my message goes away i'm calling the following morning and demanding that they freakin' tell me if i'm in or not!! ;)

i don't know. sigh.

Hey, all. I've been stalking you guys for a while......reading your posts but not contributing anything of my own. I just wanted to say if you guys have deadlines to meet for other schools, don't hesitate asking Cornell to expedite your decision. I asked CALS (Bio major) to expedite mine a few days ago and they already sent me my decision. Everyone I talked to on the phone was very helpful and they didn't even make me fax my NYU acceptance to get my decision early. I'm just glad I got in and don't have to worry anymore.

Also, I know there are some Penn people in here. If you go to the decisions link on Penn's website and click on I forgot my e-mail/password, it e-mails you your login info. It's pretty cool considering Penn hasn't sent me any login stuff yet. It says no decision has been made on your application for me, but decisions may be up for some of you guys. Who knows? Good luck, everybody

haha... yeah i don't get that time difference either... it doesn't really make much sense... good idea to call... good luck. :)
