Transfers

Are there any combined med programs that accept first-year transfers? I do like my school but i'm pretty sure i know what i want to do and could do without the added pressure of "playing the game" for med schools

If you go to the UMKC 6yr thread w/in this section & go to the last page, #1896 & 1898 list a lot of the programs you apply to at the end of your sophomore year.

This process is not a game to the med schools. They want to see that you are dedicated to medicine & understand what it is all about. Without experiences such as volunteering/research/shadowing and a great interview, it would be unlikely you would be accepted. Whether you do it now or later you need to do it.

Thanks for the response-- i checked it out the but unfortunately it seems the only program that isn't directly linked to a specific school is the mount sinai humanities/medicine early acceptance program (unless you know any others?). I do volunteer (i'm an EMT) and i enjoy doing it-- i'm also looking for research positions this summer. That being said i could still do without the added stress of med school looming in the back of my mind. Arghhh. anyway thanks for the help

Most Early Assurance programs require you to attend a specific undergrad (Sinai being the exception), in order to get in their specific medical school. Those that I listed (which includes BOTH Early Assurance and Combined/Degree programs) were in the Northeast (New England)

Wake Forest in North Carolina is another one: Early Assurance
