For the people who were in the 2 + 2 program, how was the transition for you guys ? Was the work harder ? Were you overwhelmed? If you came from a small campus how was the change in terms of the number of people? Did you have a hard time making new friends? Did you live on or off campus?

bump…

come on there has to be someone here in the 2 + 2 program

I’d also like to know, as a transfer student from another university…

There has to be someone who was in 2 + 2 !!!

buummmmmmmppppppp

I’ve Completed courses at seven of Penn State campuses(Berks, York, Harrisburg, Delaware Valley, Great Valley, Main, World). The branch campuses are much more personal. Many students who move to Main campus will note the shock of not having direct access to professors- your main contact will likely be a teaching assistant (TA) at Main campus. I have also heard of Schreyer Honor College students acting in TA capacities but I have not witnessed this myself. Having to communicate with a TA isn’t horrible but they are generally graduate students who have limited time. Professors at the branch campus can sit and socialize for a bit while helping you work through a problem in their office.

Academically, some students find some topics at branch campuses much more rigorous while other topics lacking. For example, at the Berks campus, the math professors are known to be extremely demanding over the main campus counterparts. Hence, if you can make it through you will be better prepared over the main campus students. Contrarily, I have heard numerous students complain that the Thermodynamics at the branch campus didn’t prepare them well enough when they transferred to Main campus. Albeit, as a student its ultimately your own responsibility to learn the material and not just do well enough to pass the course…

With all that being said Main campus offers a plethora of topics and courses which are not offered at the branch campuses.
