Transition from UK undergrad to US Law School

I am going to be graduating from one of the top UK universities with an undergrad degree in Economics, and am due to complete the most prestigious economics masters programme in Europe following that (LSE EME). I hope to pursue a joint PhD Econ/JD in the US.

Assuming that I graduate with a top grade (1st class) from my undergrad - how will this compare me to US students with respect to admissions for top law schools?

Generally - besides good grades and LSAT, as well as original essay responses - what are law school tutors looking for in the candidates? What I mean is are internships in top banks/hedge funds considered beneficial? Working in a charity etc.?

Thank you for your help
