Translation of application forms at Harvard

How did international students from non-English speaking countries manage the translation of their application forms (specifically concerning the teacher recommendations)?

The underlying problem here is that if I get the recommendations written in non-English, I cannot really waive my right to access it since I have to take care of the translation = they have to be returned. Appears way too impolite and disrespectful to me, to "claim" my right to see them.

Then again, if Harvard does not insist on translations, it's yet a different situation. On their homepage, it says that they 'appreciate translations' - certainly, this is a matter of interpretation, but does that mean that they are not mandatory? The non-English language in question is German, in case that somehow makes a difference.

Thanks in advance!

I wouldn’t be super worried about it. Contact the admissions officer from your region with a specific question. There’s a list on Harvard’s website.

Yeah. This is probably the most common mistake among people; creating a thread without taking into consideration the help they could have. I’m sorry, should’ve known that.

No reason to apologize! Just wanted to say that so you didn’t get some awkward secondhand information. The admissions officers are really helpful.
