Just wondering...with your Cornell student ID Card, do you all get to use the public transit system for free? I mean, is the setup similar to that of U of Pittsburgh and CMU in Pittsburgh? I am just wondering. We can basically ride any of the buses, or Ts for free with our ID anywhere in the county...plus, there are university buses that just service the campus and surrounding area.

yeah theres one that goes to the rockaway mall or something and also to binghamton and to NYC and to jersey on friday, and back on sunday, for a fee of course

lol nothing is free at cornell.

the freshman reading book is free...

well, everything besides that

The bus system, TCAT, is not free for anyone but Cornell Faculty/Staff on weekdays. An annual pass costs $220.

bus keeps going up in price each year, and each year, the people running for a position keep saying "free bus and gym" well guess what? WE HAVENT YET! sorry, i had to vent. yeah, they nickel and dime us to death.

Oh wow...I think I was wrong; the price listed on the TCAT website says an annual pass is $495. For some reason, though, Ithaca College students only have to pay $165...argh

i know...next yr, for us, it's $200 annual pass if you buy early...

Everything is really expensive, I was just there for Jon Stewart though and walking in the cold isn't too bad. You can cut through buildings and collegetown is close to the engineering quad. Ag quad is 10-15 mins from North Campus.

LOL I was wrong again haha: http://www.parking.cornell.edu/tms3_undergradoption.html?quicklinks3=tms3_undergradoption.html

how much does the gym cost?

I think I heard 175 or something? Either that or it was like 275? sorry I'm not much help.. it's def worth it though, the food is really good at the freshman dining halls and the only beer they drink is Milwakie's Best. The good part is I saw workout facilities inside a bunch of buildings on north campus. There are also lockers in the middle of I think Uris library, so if you join a gym you can go to the library leave your stuff and go to one of the bigger gyms near there.

i was gonna join ne ways, I was just wondering how ****ed my parents would be :) lol

The gym is $135 per semester. And don't bother getting a locker in Uris for your gym clothes...are you nuts? They have locker rooms at North Campus gyms, as well as the one on central. You rent a locker the the gym, not the library, unless you plan on storing your books.

sorry, $135/year for the gym

nice, thank u :)

isnt the gym supposed to be free, whats up with that

There are some things free at Cornell (internet access, Napster usage, your summer reading book) but the gym isn't one of them.

thank god for dc++ or else many people on campus would be paying for going over the bandwidth limit ^_^
