Transportation at Purdue

Current students or family of students, how easy is it to get to the Chicago suburbs from campus on weekends?

By car–about 2 hours or so. Construction could add another hour. You could also walk over the walkway to the Lafayette Amtrak and take the train to downtown Chicago–Union station–2 and 1/2 hours for $25. Then get to the suburbs via taxi or get picked up or take a train.

You can do your own homework on this travel via Google pretty quickly. I am sure there is a bus option, etc. You could fly if you have the dollars, etc.

Do you have a car?

There are two bus options that I know of: Star of America and Lafayette Limo. You can check out times and locations on their websites.

No I do not have a car and freshman are not allowed cars anyway. Thanks for your help! I think my best option are busses so I’ll check out the options, thanks!

Express Air Coach goes to Chicago O’Hare and Midway airports

Also check out Suburban Express, it goes to the Chicago suburbs

Lafayette Limo only goes to the Indy airport, and Star of America SOMETIMES goes to O’hare. You also cannot fly out of the Purdue airport, so that is not an option. Taking a bus is the way to go!

Thanks! I looked at the suburban express and it seems to be my best option.
