Transportation Considerations (A Rant)

Yes, Alleghany Airlines, which we called Agony Air for good reason.

Allegheny-->USAir. Indeed it was good riddance. Let's see there was also North Central, which (with Southern Air) was eaten by Republic, which was later eaten up by Northwest.

There was Eastern (as mentioned) which died despite having a famous astronaut as its CEO -- and it was by far the worst I ever flew on repeatedly, though I had one very memorable bad experience on PanAm shortly before it went bust.

We had Piedmont for a while, which was eaten by USAir -- Piedmont was a much finer deal with a cool hub in Dayton.

We also had NYAir flying for some years between Detroit and NY; not sure what happened to it. My favorite in old days used to be Western Airlines, "the only way to fly" according to the old TV commercials.
