Are there multiple ways to get from the airport to the USC campus? Do they ever offer a shuttle or anything? Anybody have any suggestions?

A cheaper alternative would be to take the Fly-away shuttle from LAX to Union Station ($5) and then the USC tram (free) to the campus.

Both of these are pretty quick and operate on a strict schedule, although the USC tram only runs on weekdays.

Just to clear up what you’ve said grey_syntactics, there’s a shuttle that travels from LAX to Union Station for $5, and then a USC tram that picks up students from the university at a given time on weekdays and takes them back to the university?

That would be spectacular and a very cheap way to get to campus.

do budget extra time, whatever method you use.

That has the schedule from Union Station to the main campus and the Health Sciences campus (for the USC trams). Note though that trams GO to Union Station pretty late, but they stop picking people up around 3pm.

Haha, whoops, posted the same link as jbusc. Here’s another link that is useful.

That has a lot of “deals”, but a popular one is the Primetime Shuttle one. USC students for a 10% discount if you go through that page. So if you’re coming from LAX to USC (main campus ) (or to LAX from USC), it should be $13.50. But you have to be a USC student to get the discount. Another shuttle service that people use is Super Shuttle, but there’s no discount for USC students that I’m aware of.

Thanks everyone. These prices are really reasonable. I’m glad that it’s not too difficult to get from LAX to main campus, considering I’ll be doing it at least a couple of times during the year. How far is the drive from LAX to campus?

It is about 20 kilometers from LAX to campus according to the Google Earth.

The drive from LAX to campus is about 15-20 mins, assuming you go direct (ie not a shuttle or train). But remember it is LA, so there can be horrible traffic, lol.

Taxi1113,
That’s right. But, as someone pointed out, the first Union Sta -> USC tram is at 6AM and the last is at 3:12PM.

Is that USC primetime shuttle page new? Don’t remember seeing it before. We’ve been paying the regular $15 =(

Joyful628- I sure wish we used kilometers here. You are going to have to get used to miles. Or maybe you can start a campaign to get the US to change that! :)

The prime time shuttle offer only started this year.

I believe this is the first year they’ve started this partnership. So it is fairly new.

My son likes Prime Time Shuttle, though there have been a couple times when the the driver was a little confused about the pickup location at the college. USC also ran a free shuttle to LAX at the beginning of the December break this year.

Thank you for your suggestions. I will try to make a campaign about “kilometer-mile” when I arrive in U.S. in this fall.

My son took the Super Shuttle from the Burbank airport (cheaper fare on Southwest than LAX) to school. I found a discount on the Web when I prepaid and it was $24 for one person including tip. I do have to put in a nice word for Super Shuttle because he lost his cell phone in the van, and they found it and are sending it back, paying the postage.

what would be the cheapest/most efficient way from USC to LAX? (more specifically, after orientation, around 5pm)

Probably having a shuttle bus pick you up from SC.
