California daughter of a friend being recruited for athletic team needs to make a meet & greet visit. How does she get there from Logan? Too young to rent a car. Fly to NYC instead and take the train? The bus from Boston appears to take forever. The shuttle service is $300!!! Are we missing something? What do people do?

Fly to Bradley International in Windsor Locks and take a shuttle - closer to Amherst and way easier than hassling with Logan/Boston.

Daughter took the Peter Pan bus from Logan to Amherst all the time. It only makes one stop in Springfield and sometimes a quick stop at the Holyoke mall, but not always. The bus didn’t take much longer than if somebody was driving. Flights were cheaper going into Logan than to Bradley and the bus was half the cost of the shuttle out of Bradley.

Thanks to both of you.

Here is a bus option from Hartford Connecticut to Amherst, MA.

<a href=“Hartford to Amherst Bus - Tickets from $1 | Wanderu”>http://www.wanderu.com/cheap-bus-tickets/hartford-ct-to-amherst-ma

Thanks, Tampa2015. I saw that option via a Google search (or maybe on the Amherst site), but it seems to involve a number of transfers in Hartford to get from the airport to the bus station. Probably easy once you’ve done it one time.

The following Amherst College website describes ground transportation from Bradley, Logan, and JFK airports.

Bradley in Windsor Locks, CT, is the closest major airport and has the least expensive ground transportation options.

Interesting that ground transport from NYC and Hartford are both cheaper than from Boston.

We flew from the West Coast into Hartford, then grabbed the shuttle. It was easier than expected. The shuttle cost 53 dollars and took less than an hour.
