OK now that D is there and all those move-in issues are dealt with, I am wondering about how to get D to the airport for Thankgviing break without a car.
D is hoping to get a ride from one of her friends with a car but I want a backup plan in case that falls through.
I know there are always taxi's at the airport that are willing to take students back to campus but how do we get one at campus to go to the airport? Also, I thought I remember at orientation something about shuttles being available that go to the airport.
How do you OOS with upperclassmen handle this?

I’m pretty sure there is a free shuttle to the Columbia airport during the Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks. Last year I flew my D out of Charlotte because the flights were non stop and cheaper, (we live in NJ). If you choose this there is a van service called the Columbia Charlotte Shuttle which picks the students up right on campus and takes them to Charlotte. It is $45 each way. Their website is ColumbiaCharlotteshuttle.com. Good luck. I hope your D is enjoying her first year.

Here’s a link from the airport web site to a list of cabs:

[Ground Transportation | Columbia Metropolitan Airport | CAE | Columbia, SC](http://www.columbiaairport.com/directionstransportation/groundtransportation.aspx)

My daughter will be in the same boat at Thanksgiving. I plan to have her call a cab, maybe check the night before to make sure there won’t be a problem (she has a very early morning flight). (I already asked if I should mail her an alarm clock with the appropriate time set, and she said no, she’d cross that bridge when she came to it…)

Fendrock, thanks for the list. You are cracking me up (with the alarm clock). I know what you mean. I already booked the flight and now I can give D the list of cabs. The least she can do is show up at the airport with her tickets on time, right? lol…

If your kid isn’t coming in at a time convenient for the shuttle run by USC from CAE to campus or vice versa, I highly recommend Deluxe Cab Company. I’ve used them both times I’ve gone to the airport and they’ve been prompt, nice, and smooth. $20 each way.
