Transportation to Union station

How do most of you Bruins get back and forth from UCLA to Union station (cost, time, convenience, etc.)?

It's sort of a hassle, I won't lie. To get from Union Station to UCLA, I take the Metro Red Line (subway) from Union Station to Vermont Avenue, and then the Metro Bus #2 on Sunset from Vermont to Strathmore/Gayley (near the dorms). It usually takes around an hour and a half, although sometimes it takes more and sometimes less depending upon what time of the day. If you want to look up timetables for the route, etc., go to www.metro.net

I just looked up another route instead (I usually just take the subway for kicks because it's fun, and because the station is right under Union Station)... but if you're willing to walk a few blocks from Union Station to Cesar Chavez@Broadway, you can just take the 2 the whole way instead of Subway/2. This costs $1.25, and takes between 1 hour and 1 hour and 15 minutes. If you do the subway route, I usually just buy a day pass which is 3 bucks.

P.S. When you're using the Metro.net trip planner, type in "Union Station" for the place of departure and "Strathmore/Gayley" for the destination, not "UCLA"... this will take you the closest to the dorms.

Thanks. Does anyone know how much a cab ride would be and about how long a ride it would be? I'm thinking maybe a few students could share the cab if they coordinate a time for holidays, etc.

I don't know if its feasable, but you can look into the vanpool services. Theres a number on their website, so you can always try talking to them to see if anything will work out for you:

https://www.transportation.ucla.edu/students/commuting/vanpools/index.htm

(Plus I think the rates on their website said $6-8 one way so that would be much cheaper than a cab if it ends up working for your route)

Edit: actually the routes are here:
