Most people say you NEED a car in LA, and a car is terrible to have in New York. What is it like in D.C.? Is it easy to take the subway around, and do most students do it? How is parking? etc. etc.

i don't go there but i am probably going there next fall. i've been to dc many times and recently went on my own in january, well with other kids, and we just used the underground to get everywhere. we had no problems. as long as you have feet and aren't afraid of public transportation (because i was a little weary at 1st) then you will be fine. no need for a car in my opinion, i'm not going to drive my car all the way from texas that's for sure!

metro man...metro

You do NOT want a car in DC. Very easy to get around by subway or taxi.

I don't understand one thing though, are freshman allowed to have a car on campus? They were inquiring on whether I wanted a parking permit for the 06-07 year so I'm rather confused.
