I have recently received acceptance into the university, however, some of my family and friends are going to schools much farther away. Does UR provide transportation to other colleges not only for games but on a regular basis? What are some of the cheaper transportation options to go from college to college? I’m looking to travel mostly to and from Virginia Tech, and Arlington, VA…
I know they have Zipcars there you can rent as long as you have a driver’s license! Other than that, I’m not too sure. Honestly, from my brother’s experience there, a lot of people have friends who go to UVA, VT, etc. Most of the time people will just carpool together places.
They may, not sure haha. Probably not, but I know you can rent them for a day so its not impossible I guess. My brother would always carpool with people! After orientation and being a member of the FB group, he made tons of friends who would go with him places!
My D who attends UR doesn’t have a car, but takes Uber to the nearby Amtrak Staples Mill Road station. Amtrak provides easy access to inexpensive transportation to points in Northern Virginia, such as Arlington. Once you get to the Alexandria, Virginia station, you can switch to the Metrorail.
We were just visiting Roanoke & they to,d us at the seminar that Amtrack is expanding that way in the fall. They will have a station in Salem as well as several towns in the area that are big college towns, so that might help link the schools together better.
@LMHLAW3 The free shuttle to Amtrak is only for breaks (thanksgiving, fall break, winter break, spring break). It is not part of the normal UR shuttle route.
