Transportation

S will be a freshman this fall. We just starting thinking about how he will get home during breaks/ holidays. We live in the Phila area. Do most people take the train home, or should we book flights? Also how far is the Providence RI airport from Northeastern, and how do you get there? Is there a bus or train that takes you there? Any suggestions from current students? Thanks.

Lowermorelandmom,
My daughter who is going to be a junior at a Boston school has flown home from Manchester airport. Southwest seems a little less expensive than airtran or usair ( we live in south Jersey ) I have flown to Providence and taken the train into Boston and it stops right at Northeastern ( MBTA ) . I think the Manchester route is a little easier. She caught a bus at South Station right to the airport...
This yr , I will have two up in Boston ,so we are figuring it out. my older daughter is contemplating taking the bus because her friend takes it to NYC when she goes home and it is very reasonable...the only thing is he time. We shall see how that works

Providence airport is not convenient. Manchester works fine if you don't mind the T part of the journey.
I know kids who have taken the Chinatown NYC/BOS bus..
