Trashed First Semester - Senior

Okay, so in grades 9-11 I was on average a B+ student. I was accepted early admission to SUNY - Stony Brook with a 3.65 weighted GPA.

I really bombed first semester senior year. Stacks up like:

AP Environmental - D
AP World History - C
Ap English - D
Cisco Networking - D
Math - C
Spanish - D

This fall was mostly due to health related absences, and mitigating circumstances, most of which translated into shear fatigue. Could most likely be explained to colleges.

I dont know whether mid-year grades are requested by this school, or if just finals are. I plan to boost my grades significanlty in this next semester.

What are my odds of having my acceptance rescinded?

yeah if you explain it to your colleges. And it depends entirely upon the school whether you need midyears, I doubt stony brook needs them, but you should definitely contact them. This isnt a case of one or two bad classes, you really effed up your whole schedule, and you have chance of getting rescinded-so dont be surprised if you are.

If it turns out that they do just need my final transcripts, is that just the spring semester or all of senior year?

A final transcript should include all grades throughout high school, i think

Be sure to talk to your GC on what to do next. If you explain your health and family circumstances, you should be fine. What were they? Are they severe enough? Being sick for a week probably won't be enough to negate these grades.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. The only treatment available to me would be a respirator while sleeping, however, due to chronic sinusitis this will not be possible without surgery. Which, get this, has to be put off until the end of the school year because I cant risk missing any more school.

UPDATE -

My weighted GPA is now sitting at 3.56
Unweighted is a 2.8

Any thoughts?

sounds like a good reason for the problem grades... just make sure to explain for first semester and improve 2nd (is that possible if the surgery is at the end of the yr?) But ya, all I can say is REALLY REALLY make sure you can the message across about the issue this semester.

why must I always miss writing words in my messages? lol, there's a "get" somewhere in there.

Have your GC send a letter to the college to explain the situation. I'm sure it will turn out fine.

'preciate it.
