Hi again. Does anyone else know if it's common for professors to cancel classes prior to fall or Thanksgiving break? I'm trying to make travel plans for both, but D has several afternoon classes on Wednesdays that last until 4:15. Any advice is appreciated.

dont expect any breaks from profs before the fall break.there are no classes scheduled on the Wed before Thanksgiving (look for the Academic calendar on the USC website ) what you should be concerned about is cancellations for the Tuesday of Thanksgiving week! Be aware its a big time for tests/papers.It might be easiest, if possible, to schedule a flight (if thats whats needed) for Tuesday evening of Thanksgiving week. Fall break, kids tend to stay around unless they are local. The dorms don't close for those 4 days (really, its only two days plus the weekend).

There are no classes that Wednesday before Thanksgiving. As cathymee said I wouldn't miss class on that Monday or Tuesday though, the university has a policy that no tests/quizzes etc.. can be given a certain number of class periods before finals(depending on how many days a week the class meets), so those days tend to have some major tests/quizzes scheduled as well as the week you get back from Thanksgiving.
