during thanksgiving break, do most students fly back home? i'm from CA and money is very tight so my family could barely afford the trip. suggestions please! thanks in advance :)

A majority of students will return home during Thanksgiving, but you would certainly not be the only person staying in New Haven for the break. And if you don't want to stay in the dorms, there's a good chance you'll have friends who live within train distance (in fact, it's probably impossible not to) who would be happy for you to stay with them over break.

Remember, The Game is that Saturday, which you won't want to miss, so make your travel plans accordingly.

My daughter flew back to Cali two of the four years. One year she took a train to visit her aunt in Boston. Junior year she stayed at school to work and found that even though the dining halls were closed, the masters of the colleges provided several meals for their students, such as Pizza or Thai food in the college lounge or master's home. On Thanksgiving, all students still on campus were invited to various staff and faculty homes. She said it was fairly organized and fun, although it is a pretty long week if you don't have something to break it up. The poster from Irvine mentions that some students go home with friends they meet at school during that week, and I think that is fairly common.

ok. thanks!
