I just got this e-mail-

"Dear Prospective Cal Student:

Congratulations on being admitted to UC Berkeley! Now that you know your admissions decision, it is time to find out if Berkeley is the right fit for you.

You probably have questions about what campus life is like at UC Berkeley, or want to learn more about the unique academic and cultural opportunities available to students at the premier public university in the country. Maybe you have questions or concerns about your major, financial aid, housing, or academic support services.

If so, we would like to offer you a travel scholarship to visit campus on April 15 April 16!

This is a great opportunity for you to get the answers to these and other questions about UC Berkeley. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will handle the travel arrangements, connect you with a volunteer overnight host who will give you a first-hand look at Berkeley student life, and answers any questions you have about the place we fondly call Cal. During your stay, you will also explore the Berkeley campus on Cal Day, connect with campus resources, meet other new students, and see Cal from a current students perspective.

We are inviting a limited number of admitted students; spaces in the program are limited and will fill up very quickly. We encourage you to RSVP for the program as soon as possible." ...

Is this program/scholarship any different from the Overnight Host Program? Both are April 15 - April 16. Has anyone else received this email?

I got the same email. Is this sent to every admitted student? Can someone offer some details about this?

Well the message says “We are inviting a limited number of admitted students; spaces in the program are limited and will fill up very quickly,” so I assume it isn’t sent to every admitted student.

oh missed that part! sorry

so this program is completely separate from the Overnight Stay Program hosted by the alumni association and the regular Overnight Host Program on the myBerkeley page?

I think they’re separate. There’s no mention of either program in the email and I’m fairly sure the overnight programs are open to all admitted students.

Has anyone else gotten this email?

perhaps the “select number” of students = out of state students? Are you guys going to attend?

Got the email from PA. I am excited!

Got this e-mail around two PM today. From NJ.

I didn’t get an email and I’m out of state :/

boo i didn’t get this email and I’m from ohio. I’d love to visit though. should I call just to check if i’m eligible for this travel scholarship?

I believe they are for underprivileged students, but I may be wrong…

@xjudokax: I don’t think so. I think they are offering this to attract out-of-state students and offer them to visit the campus for the first time. What college did you guys get accepted into?

I got one… But, is it free?

It is absolutely not for underprivileged students (I am OOS and did not apply for financial aid). I’m guessing they just gave it to the most qualified OOS kids. I could be wrong tho…maybe its just random.
