Does anyone know if there are shuttles between campus and the airport? Other than a taxi which costs $75 each way how do the students get to the airport? Thanks any info would be helpful.

There was a shuttle service called Town and Gown, at least when I was there. I never heard of anyone taking a taxi.

Thanks for the info, but when were you there? I can't seem to find any info other than private taxis.

Even for the Reunion last year, there was Town and Gown service to the Airport. I have to imagine it's on the Colgate site somewhere.

there are at least two taxi services, one is the $75 and one is $40. The school ran a shuttle for winter break, if you were going the right times, for $20 each way. Since so many kids have cars on campus, my D is getting a ride back from the airport from break and this is her freshman year.
One service she won't use again, her flight was late- they had the flight number and they told her she would have to wait another hour before they came to get her. She ended up with another cab with a friend a short time later.

I offer rides to the airport for $45 one way or $80 round trip (round trips are usually on breaks) I have a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV that can fit a lot of bags so dont worry if you have a lot of stuff.

This may sound high but it is a 2 hour round trip and a cab is going to run you anywhere from 65-100 ONE WAY depending on when you are going and what company you choose.

I will be coming back to Colgate on August 27th so I can do first-year orientation pick-ups...

If you are traveling with parents they could do a round trip....

If you are interested email me at aschwartz@mail.colgate.edu or call me at 813-850-8991 (I will be out of the country from may 25-June 4th and June 18th -July 28th but I will still be checking email)

Try to let me know in advance because once a time slot is full you are going to have to pay more...

Which airport do you use to get to Hamilton? Is it Syracuse? I see on the map that Hamilton is a small village of less than 4000 people 40 miles southeast of Syracuse, NY.

Is this area part of the legendary upstate NY snowbelt?

I have full confidence that you can get to Colgate without paying anything! Get online and look around for the shuttle services. If you don't see anything find a number and call. Even if you call the wrong office they will point you in the right direction.
Good luck

yes, you go to syracuse airport. and yes, it gets a lot of snow but its less snow than Buffalo as its away from the water

Actually Syracuse receives much more snow than Buffalo throughout the winter. Buffalo will have major snow events but Syracuse has snow practically daily from November through March. Rochester receives less snow than the other two.

Yes, Colgate is part of the legendary snow belt. My parents live in Rochester and they're always surprised by the amount of snow Colgate actually gets. My dad would say "it's snow a lot here!" Then I'd say "Well we already have 6 inches on the ground!"

Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT pay more than $75 one way from ANYONE- in Hamilton or Syracuse for a cab. A cabbie tried to charge me $130 to go from Syracuse to Hamilton and I had to wake up my friend to come and pick me up.

There are shuttle services for thanksgiving, winter, and spring breaks that tend to fall on the last day of classes (or day after, or for winter, late in the exam period- on Friday or Saturday) and on the day before the fisrt day of classes when breaks end.
