Travel to interview or phone?

Should I travel 50 km to the interviewer's house or should I just stay at home and do it by phone?

that depends…how badly do you want to go to princeton?

How are you on the phone? My daughter stammers and stutters on the phone, but is a great in-person interview. So…with which medium are you more comfortable? Do you LOOK pulled together, poised, confident? Do you want them to SEE the passion in your eyes when you speak of … soccer (?). Or are you more of a limp fish in person, who can “hide” behind a phone and gain confidence from that fact, and sit in your PJs and still sound “mature/responsible”. Ya know? Seems like YOUR call, of course - I think a personal interview would make a better impression (assuming all goes well, of course…your car doesn’t break down or train is late and you get caught in the rain and arrive flustered and never recover). Either type interview could go either way. So - the decision ball gets thrown back into your court to ponder.

50 km is not that far. i would do it in person, but i guess that’s because i am better in person than on the phone.

Travel > Phone

Do the 50km to show how devoted you are.

If it would really be a hassle to travel, I think the phone would be fine unless you think you don’t come across well over the phone.

I think in-person interviews are usually better, but there really isn’t much weight put into these interviews, so it’s your call. I wouldn’t stress about it too much.

Looks like everyone pretty much thinks “in person”. Opting for phone when you’re offered "in person’, sounds a bit like… “Yeah, I like your school and all, but it’s not really important enough for me to go 50km”. Ya know?

I have to cross from Canada to the US. And I’ll probably have to stay the night in the US before going back because the interview’s pretty late. So maybe phone’s better?

And there’s no way to reschedule the interview for an earlier time so you don’t have to stay the night?

^ Agree with princeton12, just find a day that suits your schedule and the interviewer. I drove over 2 hours to my princeton interview and missed school for it, eventhough my interviewer suggested a phone interview instead. When I got there, he really appreciated the long drive I made and it showed how much I wanted I liked princeton. 50 km isn’t even that long!! your interviewer will take it more seriously in person and it will probably last longer.

If you want to go to Princeton, drive the thirty miles. It is much easier for most people to interview in person than on the phone.
