Any tips on how to travel between Orange County, CA and Bethlehem, PA?
Without a car, how do students get to the airport in PA?
What has worked well for you?
Which airport in CA- Orange County, Long Beach or LAX?
Which airline? frequent air miles?
Thank you!

Try going in to Newark; then there is a bus service to Eastern PA; only an hour+ away…

I think Jet Blue flies from Orange County to Newark, but not absolutely sure…

alternatively, try Philadelphia (also about an hour)…

Great idea!
Thanks for the tip rodney.

There is a bus station in South Bethlehem - a short walk from campus or cab ride if you like. From there you can go to Phila or Newark or NYC and fly west. There is also a small airport in Allentown - a 10 min cab ride called Lehigh Valley International. I hear it is kind of expensive though.

My son’s roomate first year was from Cali - I will see if I can find out how he travelled.

We really appreciate all the input.
Thank you!

Actually flights from Lehigh Valley International to California can be cheaper than Philly or Newark (generally stopping in Chicago via United or American). The convenience factor is so great in flying in and out of Allentown, its even sometimes worth paying a little more if you have to. Easy cab ride to school.

My D has always found it cheaper to fly out of Allentown. One time she flew from somewhere else, it was not worth the hassle of getting there.

She will either get a ride to the airport or take a taxi.

Wow, just checked out Lehigh Valley International Airport’s web site.
Yes, they do fly into CA’s Orange County Airport and I found some flights with as little as
45 min or 1 hour lay over.
Prices are actually cheaper, if you book through their web site.
A 5 minute car ride to or from campus to airport is a plus too.

Keep the tips coming.
Planning now for the August move-in day.
Thanks again.

Great! My son’s room mate from Cal. ordered all his bedding stuff, towels, shower caddy etc…from a local Bed Bath and Beyond and they shipped a huge box to his dorm room. He also had most of his clothes shipped. That way, all he had to travel with was his laptop and a small bag.

Great idea.
I wonder if the ‘Housing’ packet will give instructions on how to ship items to Lehigh??
There must be an address/drop box for such deliveries from UPS/Fed Ex, etc…
Anyone know?
