Traveling from Rochester to Cornell

Apart from renting a car and driving, is there any public transportation that will take me from Rochester, NY to Cornell? I know that shortline does not stop in Rochester, and the cornell website only lists renting a car as an option (after landing at the Rochester airport).

Has anyone traveled this route before? What's the most cheapest and/or most practical method?

bumping...

are you of age to rent a vehicle? i dont know the New York state requirements though...

another way you could find a ride is by going to Rochester.Craigslist.Org and either see if anyone's offering a ride or post an ad for a ride...

im pretty sure you need to be 25 to rent a vehicle.. your best bet is to maybe post a market place listing on facebook or a listing on craigslist. or search facebook for people from rochester and ask. the easiest way to get down there is to drive. have you searched the trains or busses? you maybe able to take a bus to binghamton and then a bus to cornell, or you could take a bus to the syracuse airport and then take the shuttle to cornell from syracuse (these add a bit on to your trips though, since its only 1.5 hrs to get from roch- ithaca).

actually the easiest way would be to take the greyhound from rochester to ithaca....

in ithaca you can call a taxi/cab to take you to cornell ($10-12 fare?)

Jcas you're right...in NYS you must be 25 to rent a car. I had a friend who used to fly out of Rochester and she always used the bus.

Yeah, I'd say greyhound -- I always take the greyhound from Ithaca to Cleveland, and it stops in Rochester on the way. :P

How much does the Greyhound cost? How long is the trip?

its 1.5 hours.. prob closer to two on greyhound.. look at their website (probably quicker than asking here)..considering its 60 round drip to ny from ithaca, id say from rochester its closer to 30ish.

In New York, you must be 18 years old to rent a car. However, the underage fee as well as numerous other fees will make it very expensive. You're better off taking a bus.

i'm from rochester, and i'm planning on asking people i know to give me a ride.
so if you want, you can send me a message, and i might be able to help you out with that.
