Traveling while attending community college?

I’m starting to seriously consider attending my local community college for the first two years after high school to save money. I would transfer to a better university after two years. It’s not because of my grades/work ethic - I have the stats to get into a decent university. I talked to a college student yesterday, and they told me how they regretted attending a UC for their general ed because the general ed classes were needlessly difficult - a friend of hers finished their general ed at community, and got by with all A’s and loads of free time. The free time is the most enticing thing for me, along with the insanely low cost.

I’ve always been interested in traveling. I know most college students at more prestigious universities need to arrange a study-abroad agreement in order to travel (they can’t just drop everything and randomly go), but what about at community colleges? I don’t even know if the community college near me has a study abroad program (I really don’t think so). If you’re taking easy general ed classes, is it possible to take some weeks off here and there to travel abroad? Or do you have to find an actual study abroad program and go through the same long process someone at a private university would go through. I come from a pretty international family, so traveling abroad would be easier for me because I have several places to stay in different parts of the world.

Thanks.

A “few weeks off here and there” sounds like a vacation to me, as does staying with your family. It doesn’t sound like any study abroad programs are necessary. You can of course go on a vacation whenever you want.
