Travelling around DC

OK, I was just wondering if people had any tips for the following:

About how far away is the Metro station in Rosslyn from campus?

What's the cheapest/fastest way to travel to airports, especially Baltimore Washington International?

Thanks!

According to WMATA, the walking distance from 37 & O to Rosslyn is 0.97 mi (directly across Key Bridge).

For the airports, I think that Super Shuttle is probably the easiest way to travel to/from BWI. That will cost you $37 for the first person is you use the shared van service:

[SuperShuttle.com Fare Quotes](http://www.supershuttle.com/FareQuote.aspx)

The cheapest way (but certainly not the easiest way) is to use the trains. Take the MARC train from BWI Airport to Union Station ($6.00). From there, take the Red Line metro to Dupont Circle ($1.35), and then take the GUTS bus to the university. Really though, you probably don’t want to do that, but I think that is the cheapest way.

The GUTS bus does also service Rosslyn if you don’t want to walk the mile though.

Walking takes about 20 minutes or so to Rosslyn, but you can use the GUTS bus on weekdays. Also, if you want to go to Foggy Bottom by chance, you might as well walk across the waterfront and your’e right there instead of messing with the metro.

I fly from BWI because they do $50 flights to Pittsburgh, and Super Shuttle is so easy and not that expensive (roundtrip it’s a total of 170 for flight and Super shuttle, cheaper than a one-way out of Reagan so why not). You can use the MARC trains, they aren’t bad, but keep in mind they only run regularly on weekdays. I used them once when I had time to spare and it’s a good value for $6, but you also have to lug your crap around the metro.

Does anyone by chance know what the easiest way of transport from Georgetown to the Pentagon City Mall? And what is the closest INDOOR mall to Georgetown? I know about the shops at Georgetown Park, but what about indoor? Thanks!

Well, the easiest way would be to take a cab of course. However, the Pentagon City metro stop goes right into the bottom of the mall- go up an escalator and you’re at the shops, so the much-discussed method of taking the GUTS bus/walking to Rosslyn would apply to going there too. The Shops at Georgetown Park is an indoor mall as of my last check though.

Take the metro, it’s only about 3 stops away. Georgetown Park is also indoors but has less of a selection.

The super cheapest way to get to BWI is to take the metro to Greenbelt and then the B30 bus to BWI. Fine if you have extra time and not too much luggage, too annoying otherwise.

In addition to Pentagon City, the Ballston Mall is only marginally farther away than Pentagon City, although you have to walk a little bit from the metro to the mall (you can do this indoors, however).

Thank you all you the input!

I usually take the Georgetown Shuttle to Rosslyn then the 5A at Rosslyn to Dulles (IAD). It’s only like $3 and fairly convenient.

The 5A isn’t so great if you have a lot of luggage, though. Once the bus gets crowded, there’s not enough room to put stuff. Personally, I ride the metro out to West Falls Church and then hop on the Washington Flyer bus from there to Dulles; the bus is more expensive ($9 i think), but I’ve found it worth it; others disagree. In general, though, I say fly into/out of Reagan if at all possible, it’s much more convenient.
