travelling to dartmouth from socal

i know this has probably been answered before in some thread, but im kinda bad at the whole search thing

i was wondering what the best way would be to travel from southern california to dartmouth. i was reading the dartmouth website about different ways of getting there (airplane, train, bus, etc). what is the most convenient/ best (in your opinion) way of travel?

really looking forward to dimensions

thanks guys :)

Take A Plane

oh ahah, i think i meant whether i should take one of the chartered buses from NYC or boston, or if i should fly directly to one of the closer airports

Fly directly to one of the closer airports (boston, lebanon or manchester) this way you will have more control over your travel plans and coordinate buses/taxis accordingly. It also does not hurt to contact admissions to see if they will help with your flight.

While it would be great to fly into NYC, you would probably have to arrive the night before (the bus leaves in the morning) and stay overnight another evening (as the bus gets back late in the afternoon).

Isn't Logan the only airport that offers the Dartmouth charter bus? Unless you're going to rent a car, flying to Boston seems to me like the most feasible option.

I would recommend flying into Manchester. They are more reliable then Lebanon. The planes that fly into Lebanon are really small, and if you miss your flight or if your flight gets cancelled/delayed you will be stuck there for an extra day, which may not be a bad thing because it is Dartmouth! :) If you are looking for cheaper flights then flying into Boston is easy/cheap and it only takes about 3 hours to get to Dartmouth.

Vermont Transit runs between Machester and Hanover, and Dartmouth Coach makes the trip from Boston Logan. I would fly into whichever airport has the best fare & schedule. Boston is about 75 minutes further than Manchester fro Hanover.

Take the advice of a norcal resident. Unless money and sanity is no concern to you, the best option BY FAR is to fly Jetblue to Boston and then take the Dartmouth Coach up to Hanover.

Planes without tvs will make you go insane after flying back and forth between every term. Southwest is cramped and they give you the worst pack of chexmix (yuck). I'm not a fan of Continental, and I feel like all the other airlines are sooo overpriced.

Jetblue has so much legroom now and has awesome personal tvs. And all their planes are very new.

Also, I'm pretty sure Jetblue has direct flights from either San Diego or LAX. As a junior who has taken this trip over and over, I loathe stopovers and just want to get there as fast as possible.

thanks for all the advice guys!

i think for dimensions, im gonna do the NYC -> chartered bus route, because i was planning on visiting a few friends in NYC anyways

but should i attend dartmouth (and im pretty sure i will), the jetblue plan sounds good. though im not sure i need a tv, i have a knack for falling asleep in vehicles of transportation, and im usually out before the plane even takes off :)
