what does everyone think of UCD?
do u think it will become better or worse in the next few years? (i mean the US NEWS ranking; currently 42)

UCD is moving up in rankings

no doubt about it

THe thing is they are accepting as many people as possible and therefore it is easier to get into. In five years i can see it being in the mid 30's. There is so much growth going on with that school.

The location that it is in is also having a lot of growth so there is no way that that the rank can get worse.

Many programs that Davis has are highly respectable. Even their new MBA program is gaining alot of attention(yes thats grad , just throwing it for an example)

i agree with airforce1....also UCSB i heard in a couple years is going to become as competitive as UCLA, UCSD ,UCB...(is that really true???)

I'd say UCSB has a good chance at raising. It's breaking away from the other mid tiers in acceptance rates (52% compared to ~60% for Davis/Irvine this year), and as it contiues to shed it's party image, it's being considered by more and more people (it had the highest percentage jump in # of applications this year compared with all the UCs).

While UCSB accepts fewer applicants, the average accepted GPAs, SATs and SAT2s are nearly identical to those of UCD and UCI. Therefore, while their acceptance rate may be lower, it's applicants are probably on average....less qualified. But, it never hurts to have a large applicant pool.

Meh..They're all very close in acceptance rates/admission stats but technically Irvine is a little bit ahead. But barely. And it certainly isn't worth going there over the others just because of that. There are other good reasons to do that but don't pick UCD, UCSB, or UCI over the other because you think its academics are superior to the others.

Yeah, I really think all of them have things that show them getting even better, and I think we all have a tendency to have a little more support for the school we're attending (UCSB in my case :p). I think the mid-tier UCs will stick together for foreseeable future.

One can argue that Davis having a football team is more appealing to an applicant wanting a well-rounded experience thus leading to greater growth.

;)

It's the college environment, the beautiful campus, the top-notch programs, arguably the best Biology department in America (7th best funded- vet school and agriculture often ranked #1 nationally), the huge support of alumni (since 1906 & 1/300 Californians is UCD alum), the football team, the largest UC campus(great for growth), and simply the catchy name.

Go AGGIES! Go UC Davis!

PS- It's OK to be a bit biased.

How is UC Davis any catchier than UCSD, UC Irvine, UCLA, Cal?

Anyways, yes, we are all a little biased toward our schools especially in the UCI/UCSB/UCD debate because we all had a reason for picking it over the other, but honestly they all provide good academics and good experiences, well I really do assume so from what I hear. What I can say for sure is that I enjoy UCI cause I go there. :) hehe
