TRIALS NYU Law 2020

Hey guys, I thought I should start a thread for the TRIALS program for 2020. I’m applying for the first time, and I have absolutely no idea how competitive an applicant I am for this program (since my SAT score kind of sucked). I was hoping maybe past applicants could give some advice? Or maybe this year’s applicants would like to discuss the whole process together?

My SAT score suck too. However, my undergraduate GPA is pretty good. I don’t know if I should apply to TRIALS program.

Hello! I submitted my app to trials 2020 on December 4th. My ACT scores are also really low, but that’s fine! Let’s them know I need the help

Four weeks until the app is due. Anyone else applying?

I’m applying this year too! My overall SAT score was okay, but my reading score was in the 94th percentile. Would you guys mind posting stats (GPA, SAT score, extracurriculars) so we could get an idea of where we stand?

my stats:
undergrad GPA: 3.543
SAT score overall: 1300
SAT reading score: 710
SAT math score: 590
extracurriculars: I did a pre law program last summer and did really well! I’m also in Black Student Union, Rotary Club, NCNW but I’m not super active in any of them to be honest.

Glad someone else is here!!!

Stats:
undergrad GPA: 3.86 (I reported 3.71 from last semester though)
ACT: HORRIBLE in all sections
Extracurriculars: Many that I am active in tbh

I’m so nervous because I want this program so bad

Hey! I just found out of this program and I’m in the process of applying. For the personal statement, did y’all do two pages single or double space

@aspiringgirl Thank you for sharing! I’m nervous too–I heard that decisions don’t start coming out until the end of March at the earliest.

@trials20 Sorry for the late response! I did mine single space.

@trials20 I did mine in 1.5 space

@matizzle Its gonna be such a struggle waiting for results. I find out about my second choice program soon and the commitment date is wayyyyy before we even hear back about TRIALS interviews.

@aspiringgirl Wow same I was actually thinking about taking summer classes… is there any way you can cancel if you find out you made it to TRIALS?

Has anyone heard from them yet? Like, maybe to get a letter of recommendation?

@Bessie0501 I thought all of that happens at the end of march?

@matizzle I actually don’t think it will be a problem because I got waitlisted to my second choice. I hear if I get off by Friday

Just got off the waitlist, so this is actually going to be a problem because I have to commit by Friday…yikes

@Bessie0501 From what it looks like in past Trials threads, people don’t start getting results until late March at the absolute earliest. In one thread people weren’t getting decisions until April 15 or later!

@aspiringgirl Congrats on making it into your other program! Is there any way you can cancel with your second choice if you’re accepted to TRIALS? Maybe if you explain the situation to them.

Recent grad here, now working full time. So I found out about the program two weeks ago and applied the night of the 2/21 deadline. I’m wondering if and when I can expect to be contacted for rec letters and other materials. Has anyone been asked to submit recommendation letters yet? Also, what other materials have they asked for?
