tried understanding this whole score conversion, but failed. need help!

I understand that Tech is willing to convert ACT scores to SAT. I am just wondering if someone with experience with this whole conversion thing can tell me what this ACT score is converted (I am posting the best score in each section):

Composite: 28, a 30 if super scored(meaning i recalculate my composite using my best scores
English: 30
Math: 29
Reading: 31
Science: 28
English/writting: 31
Essay: 11/12

English writing:720ish
Math-660ish
Reading -
720ish

Tech doesnt care about science

i didn’t know tech used Reading, kind of surprised there! I always thought it was English, Math, and E/w that gets converted.

Also, does tech use both the SAT and the ACT to make a new score. Because on the SAT math I have a 680, so I thought along w/ the two 720s, I could use the SAT math score of 680 to make a composite around 2100ish.

bump 10 char

GT uses the highest SAT scores across all dates. For the ACT, they only look at highest English, Math, and Combined English/Writing scores across all test dates as well.

does this mean that the composite score is not used? and why do they convert ACT to SAT?

How else do you compare two students, one with an ACT and one with an SAT score? Every school does it in some way or another - Tech is just more open about their process.

oh true I didn’t think of it that way. Banjo, I noticed that you are an active member in the GT thread and seem to know a lot about the process, can you please help convert those ACT scores to SATs?

Oh sure, just [let me google that for you.](<a href=“LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You”>LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You)

Concordance tables vary. This is the link to the actual takes used by the University System of Georgia (including Georgia Tech):

[Appendices A - C - Academic Affairs Handbook - University System of Georgia](<a href=“Academic & Student Affairs Handbook | University System of Georgia”>Academic & Student Affairs Handbook | University System of Georgia)

I truly feel ■■■■■■■■ now. Cubbie said that "For the ACT, they only look at highest English, Math, and Combined English/Writing scores across all test dates as well. " and when I refer to the link that Banjo provided it only has Composite scores, how do I find the equivalents for English and Math.
oh and thank you ilyssa1257, for estimating the scores? how accurate do you think they are?

I just know for sure that a 30 is a 680, so actually a 31 is in 700-710 range. When you send them to Georgia Tech, it will under your application information.

For me, I was accepted EA (Biochem major) and PSP semifinalist, my ACT scores (highest among all my test dates) were:

ACT = SAT
Eng: 33= 740
Writing: 30= 670
Math: 28= 640
ACT Comp. 30 = SAT 2050 (Thank God for my extracurriculars!!!)

That is how GT converted my scores! Hope this helps!

thnx you majord for that post. it really helped.

i am wondering WHERE on the buzzport homepage you were able to find those converted scores? my test scores section only shows my individual ACT and SAT scores and I am not able to find the converted ones online.

haha btw sorry for hijacking this thread philly93 (btw nice username, Eagles fan???)

I too have a similar question, so thats why I just replied to majorD, hah dont bash me CC.

Before the Jan. 15 deadline, I could still see my ACT scores and SAT conversion. But, now I cannot see them. So, I’m sure your not seeing conversions is universal, but you can always email the Admissions staff regarding them; they usually get back with you quickly!
