trimesters

<p>Does anyone know what colleges have trimesters??? I know that Union College does, but I don't know of any others.
It seems like the course layout as a trimester would be a little easier to handle being that you could dedicate yourself more to a certain genre rather then many classes at once.</p>

<p>Ohio State and RIT have quarters. Maybe Union just doesn't have a summer quarter so they call them trimesters.</p>

<p>No, Union has real trimesters. The first ends just before Thanksgiving; the second runs from early January to mid-March, and the last is from early April to late June. Students at Union get out of school at about the same time as high schoolers do.</p>

<p>I thought Northwestern and Dartmouth had quarters, but I don't actually know for sure.</p>

<p>yeah not too sure about trimester..but i know most of the university of california system uses the quarter system excluding uc berkeley</p>

<p>dartmouth has a weird system though. it's pretty interesting if you just want to look at it once.</p>

<p>i wouldn't really be looking into anything in California... mostly in the new york, mass, penn, range. Dartmouth and Northwestern have a quarter system... i just checked.</p>

<p>It seems like a pretty unique type of semester, but i don't know why...</p>

I was considering U Mich b/c it has an excellent science program...YaY!</p>

<p>By all means, consider Michigan. It is a cool university and has good science programs. But the trimester system isn't all that different from a semester system. Fall classes essentially start 2 weeks later (always the Tuesday after Labor Day) and Spring classes end two weeks earlier (finals always end before April 30). So you basically have over 4 months for summer, but a slightly shorter (2 weeks instead of 3-4 weeks) winter break. The beauty of the long summer break is that you can take a 2 months Spring or Summer session and still have 2 months of vacation...or, you can work for 2-3 months in the summer and still have a whole month or two to relax and chill out.</p>
