I would say you definitely have a chance if you mention your junior year situation. I’d take the SAT again if you can, 1700 isn’t all that high for Trinity, but other than that, your application doesn’t look bad. The number of applications this college receives goes up each year and the acceptance rate subsequently goes down, so anything you can do to make yourself a more attractive applicant will help. Do an interview, talk to admissions, and visit campus.

One of my closest childhood friends went to Trinity. He was actually home schooled his whole life in a small town and got his GED. They tend to be more open with acceptance, but it’s a very conservative Christian university.

For the record, your stats are very low for Trinity because your tests are even lower than mine, and I am being recruited for a sport.

PetVet good luck to you.

From 2012 Data:
Percent of Applicants Admitted: 64%
Average High School GPA: 3.5
Test Scores – 25th / 75th Percentile
SAT Critical Reading: 570 / 680
SAT Math: 580 / 670

Toured last weekend with DD. They emphasized their preference for students with a demonstrated passion for something. Yours is clear. Write a good essay and ask for an interview, then tell them why you’ve done so many of your EC’s. They are not religious, nor have they been for most of the last century (Trinity’s ties to the Episcopalian Church were severed with an amendment of the college charter in 1889). They have been classically conservative, but in recent decades, have fought off a growing sense that they have become a party school. At the moment, they are embroiled in a battle over attempts to push back Greek life and President Jones has announced he will be stepping down next year. They remain a well known pipeline school for Wall Street types.

Good luck!

The admissions rate for the Class entering in the Fall of 2012 was 33.7% and most certainly not 64%.

Test Scores – 25th/75th percentile

SAT Reading - 590-690
Math - 600-700

Average GPA is not reported on the common data set.

Trinity College, in Hartford, CT is most certainly not a Christian university, nor does it have an acceptance rate of 64%. regular decision admission was 29%, and overall was 31.09%. Its hard to get into without a good application, but as I said, its not so hard as to consider impossible. If you craft your application in the right way talk to admissions when you need to, you will have a chance. Also, Trinity accepts a large number of early decision applicants, so that is an option for you if you aren’t sure if you’ll be admitted regular decision. The rate is comparable to Lehigh, Bucknell, Holy Cross, and other top institutions.

There are several Trinity Colleges/Universities out there. There is one in the Midwest or Texas(?) that keeps popping up when you search for Trinity. It is a Christian University with probably those low stats/high acceptance rate. BTW, almost every school wants students who are passionate - I can’t tell you how many times I have heard/read that.

Specific feedback to be helpful: your standardized test scores are low, esp ACT . I don’t think that you would be admitted to Trinity College in Connecticut unless you have a major hook (URM, recruited athlete, legacy with big donor, etc). I strongly suggest that if you are interested in the Northeast you look at St. Lawrence U, Ithaca College and Hobart William Smith. If you do well there you would have a shot at vet school in the US or Caribbean.

Hi people, A fellow international applicant here. I am sorry I might sound dumb but what do you mean when you say “SAT Critical Reading: 570 / 680” Does this implies: the highest range of applicant admitted got a critical reading score of 680 and the lowest admitted had 570?

No thats the 25/75 percentile. For example, if the 25/75 percentile is 600/700 in the case of trinity, you know that 25% of students got less than 600 and 25% got more than 700 in math, and most students got between 600 and 700. Its certainly not the highest score a student got, judging from the fact that I got 800 in math and my roommate got 800 in CR.

Yes I think there is some confusion. Trinity (Hartford) has average SAT of 1940 the 1790 number is the bottom quarter and 2090 is the top quarter. Average GPA about 3.7. Most of the 1790’s are special talents eg football, basketball etc.

The school is not blind to need and seems to offer more acceptances to those who can pay the full 59,995 +.
