Trinity Chances

I just got back from my interview and had an amazing time. My interviewer was wonderful, and we talked for three hours about everything from Linux and pharmaceuticals to student loans and activism. Basically, he confirmed that everything that I thought was wonderful about Duke was even more wonderful and even things I didn't know existed are wonderful.

Before, I was dead set on not having any student loans and that I wouldn't go anywhere unless it was free, or damn close. Now, I feel like any cost would be worth it. That interview just changed my perspective entirely.

But before I can incur all sorts of debt upon myself, can I even get in?

Essays: Awesome. I write really good, original essays.
Recommendations: Very good. From my AP Biology teacher who also is an EC sponsor of mine, prides herself in giving very good reccommendations. Counselor recommendation is nice as well, I'm really close with her.
Interview: Mentioned above. Awesome. He told me he would be giving me a very good recommendation, basically.

I think you have a good shot, but its still a crapshoot.

I would not let an interviewer - who wants to "sell" the school, make your decision for you. Of course Duke is a great school, but if you talked to alumni from other schools they would likely tell you how great THEIR college is.

See where you get in, see what financial aid packages you get, then revisit the schools you get into and make a choice based on everything.
