Trinity College,Fordham,Salve Regina

3 very different schools. But these are my d's final 3. Am I right to say that the levels would be Trinity
Fordham
Salve Regina

But we are considering more than prestige, she wants the right fit. Trinity is a good LAC and she was invited to apply to the guided studies program, but a bit concerned about location.
We are still waiting for the fin aid pkg

Fordham is also excellent academics in the heart of Manhattan(LC campus)which has lots of opportunitybut she would have to take a loan ea yr that will add up.

Salve is a beautiful setting but not sure there is enough academic breadth and structure.Although the Historical and Preservation major looks interesting w/ its mix of history and archeology. Plus they gave her a great fin aid award.
She is undecided still about what career path she wants but her interests and talents lie in History,classics,art/film/photography,communications.

We plan on taking a 4 day trip to see all three schools and take another look( Trinity will be first time, she did not see that one yet)and try to learn all she can of ea school and make a decision.

Whats the pros and cons for ea school if anyone is familiar w/ any of them?

Thanks

Trinity...cute campus, awesome GS program, lots of personal attention, usually excellent financial aid, great facilities, minimal requirements outside the major, internship opportunities, small class size, Austin Art Center, and the Cinestudio are pluses. The neighborhood is a bit depressing, but most of my friends have never had a problem...they do have shuttle service. Hop, skip, and a jump to NYC as well. 45 minutes to Amherst, Smith, Mt. Holyoke, Conn College, Wesleyan U, Yale, etc...Personally, Hartford is okay but watch out for the speeding drivers and left-and-right off-ramps. Crazy.

Fordham...right in the city, medium sized, strong philosophy/religion depatments, pretty even across the board for other subjects, good merit aid.

Salve...dunno much about.

Again...visit and you and your D will know what would be the best fit. It's refreshing that you and your D are open to the schools. Some would automatically consult the dreaded USNews.

Have a good time on the visits. Try to relax a little. Sometimes people get anxious...which can affect what you see.

IB.

Go to Trinity. She can always do the Manhattan living later.

Trinity is the best school here - if you can afford it, go there!

Trinity is the best and most well known.
The south end of Hartford is not the best part of the world -- but the campus itself is very pretty and gothic. I have a young friend at Trinity and she loves it.

trinity is by far the best academically, but probably the least desireable location (newport is absolutely gorgeous). grad schools looooove trinity students.
