I have heard that Trinity has a very preppy student body. Is this school more preppy than the other NESCAC schools? How would the student body as a whole compare to other NESCAC schools?

Also, how does Trinity compare to Connecticut College? How do the academics, social life, and admissions standards compare. Any info appreciated.

Yes there are students who dress 'preppy' and it is a Trinity stereotype, but they are not a majority. With about half the student body coming from private schools and a little less than half receiving Trinity grant assistance, it may not be a surprise of course. I haven't been to any other NESCAC schools except for a performance at Tufts (I didn't even know what NESCAC was when I applied, I just knew Trinity's engineering program was great), so can't help you there.

From discussions with other students and a look at surveys and rankings, I'd say Trinity is a better institution than Connecticut College. However, I haven't personally visited Conn. College.

Maybe the best thing for you to do besides a campus visit is to go through the student newspapers of both schools and get a sense of what the student body is really like. In terms of social life, I do believe Trinity is now the only NESCAC school with a Greek system. But seriously, only 18% of Trin students are part of a Greek organization.

Actually, despite the USWN rankings, Conn is more selective than Trin (most people from my high school that applied to both got rejected from Conn and into Trin). Trin is preppier, but has better sports teams. Trin has better econ, Conn has better social sciences and study abroad. Trin is slightly more conservative. Overall, the schools are pretty much the same.

Thanks for the info. Overall, is there a significant advantage to applying early decision at either of these two schools? In terms of the acceptance rate, is it the same for ED I as it is for ED II?
