Do you not think Trinity's campus is too small?

the campus itself is pretty large considering the student body...
it is kind of divided into two levels: the lower level includes housing and all the student facilities such as dining hall, gym, etc. and the higer level (after climbing like 50 stairs!!) consists of all the academic buildings like the seperate department buildings, library, theatre, church (which is beautiful).
it probably would take about 15ish minutes to walk across the entire campus. it feels pretty decend sized though, when your there.

Both SMU and Trinity have lots of things going for them. As a generalization, I would say Trinity has a more intellectual atmosphere and is more academically rigorous. They Greek scene is less important at Trinity. They are basically just local clubs, no national affiliations. The frats/ sororities are much more visible at SMU. If you are interested in business, SMU's Cox School probably gets more recognition. I don't know that it is any better than Trinity, but it is in Dallas and is better known.

SMU has DI sports, if that is important to you. Some of their programs have been struggling, but they have the football coach from Hawaii so we will see. Trinity is a DIII school.

As to job prospects, the general public in the northeast is not familar with Trinity. (Well, after the Mississippi Miracle it is probably better known.) But I believe that graduate schools and large employers are familiar with its quality.

Still waiting to hear if my daughter is accepted. But I wanted to comment on the preparation of Trinity grads. A couple of months ago I was hiring a new communications specialist at work. We give several tests for this. The Trinity grad in the running blew all the other applicants away except for one guy who was a presidential scholar at Southern Cal. That gave me an even greater respect for Trinity than I already had. The school is very small though. So I'm not certain it will be the right spot for my D

yayyy i just got my acceptance email!
anyone else?

they sent me an email yesterday, the actual letter should be coming soon :)
i think i like SMU more though

Well,I an an international student and I have some questions about Trinity.
Two statistics are a little disappointing. Can anbody throw light on these? One is 'returning sophomores' at 87% on one site and 90% on another.
Second and more important is 'Graduation rate in 6 years is 75%'

I think the statistics might be explained by the fact that some Texas students who start at Trinity, decide -after freshman year- to transfer to the larger state universities to get more "bang for their buck"

where would Trinity land in the liberal arts colleges ranking category?

Trinity is not strictly speaking a LAC. Because it offers graduate programs it isn't ranked w/ Liberal Arts Colleges. Its USNWR ranking is #1for Masters Universities in the West.

impressive. does anyone know about the geoscience department at rhodes? or just their science program in general?

sry, I only know Rhodes has strong Business programs.

annak, did you apply to Scripps too? TU and Scripps are two of my DDs favorites and I saw your name on the "who's applying" link for Scripps. Good Luck!

Villanova U put in waiting list....!!! Sad!

yes i applied to scripps aswell but since i didnt qualify for one of their limited number of scholarships i probably wont be attending. trinity on the other hand gave me the maximum amount of merit based financial aid... so it is looking like a great possiblity :)

annak... You have a great attitude about it all. Scripps does offer attractive FA even if you aren't a JES recipient. At the info session we went to the admin chair told us that they limited the amount of loan $ offered to I think 4,000.00 a year which I think means they make up the difference w/ work study and grants. Anyway, once they accept you I think they work hard to get you to attend. If you have to choose between TU and Scripps...what a happy thing for you. You must have worked very hard. Congratulations!!

Hi, I've been accepted to Trinity RD. Someone wanted stats? I'm not sure what the "outline" is for that but I'll try my best:

Johns Hopkins Pre-College Program '06

I think this is all...I'm thinking about majoring in Biology if I attend Trinity. They offered me $15,000/yr scholarship which is nice b/c Trinity is kind of expensive. It's a nice campus though. Does anyone know what the acceptance rate into medical school for students there is? Is it a good program? Would it prepare me well for med school? Also, is anyone attending the Trinity360 event on April 19? I'm thinking about staying overnight on that Saturday.

To me, Trinity is an excellent university whose reputation just hasn't caught up with them yet. I don't know if Trinity students are successful in med school or not though. I just don't know what to expect. Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance too!

congrats atsen.
are you highly considering going?
im trying to kind of get a grasp of what other people think of the school as well as my own (and my mothers...) opinion.

i have d sam problem. im not sure i wanna go there.

I am considering it, but I'm also waiting on other university decision letters. You were accepted right? What are your stats? I'm impressed though by how many people applied (4500 or so?) and by how many people were accepted (640ish). That's a low acceptance rate...I've been trying to get a feel for it and have looked over multiple websites for student reviews. So far, I've read ONLY good or rather, great, things about the school. Personally, I love the fact that the dorms are all suite-style, carpeted, equipped with a microwave, fridge, wireless access, cable access, and there's housekeeping every two weeks, plus a balcony for every room. All I would have to worry about is doing laundry and studying which is great b/c premed is tough and requires tons of work. But what I'm really looking for is statistics. I dunno, what have you found out? What do you think? Is anyone going to Trinity360 this April?
