atsen...what would hold you back? Think about that and definately attend Trinity 360. It will become clearer.

atsen, which other colleges are you considering?

I'm not sure what is holding me back...I'm waiting on decision letters from other universities like Rice, Notre Dame, and Johns Hopkins. I just heard from Rice today: been waitlisted...I've also recieved some financial aid from Trinity though ($7500), but is that I don't really understand the letter. I'm going to call them about it.

Thanks for the advice, historymom.

Son was admitted EAII and we then had the loooooong wait to see what kind of FA package they could put together. It's not bad, but we'll try and talk with the FA Ofc to bump up the grants portion a bit more if they'll do it.

We loved TU when we visited last summer. Toured the whole campus on a golf cart, had lunch, visited all the main buildings, freshman dorm bldg (awesome rooms!), and then spent about 3 hours with the baseball coaches as son was heavily recruited. In the end, I don't think there's anywhere else he would want to go. Definitely pricey, and we hope to work on that, but there's so much more to college than what classes you're going to take -- it's the whole picture -- the whole environment that will go a long way towards shaping your understanding of the world and your place in it. It's son's #1 choice in every way, so we'll try to make it work!

Go TIGERS!!

no, unfortunately im not attending trinity360.
i just recently visited the campus for an overnight stay a couple of weeks ago so i figure that sort of takes the place of 360... but i wish i would have just waited because i think it would be cool to go when all prospective students are around. to see if i could picture myself spending the next four years with them, i guess.

do you all think i should attend 360 anyways?
just to get another, more realistic, look at what trinity would be like next year?

How does San Antonio feel?

I have just decided to enroll at Trinity! I am looking forward to seeing you guys at Trinity!

That is great news and congrat ojin. My D is still waiting a couple of decision from East Coast schools but she is about 90% set on Trinity. We attended the Trinity 360 and the campus has a great friendly feel, San Antonio is very ubran and a really fun city with so much to do. Houston and Austin are also very close by. I think you will be very happy with your decision!

Damn it I was waitlisted ! I think because I asked for a lot of aid and I am an international student!

3.5 GPA
610 Math and 720 Critical Reading
117 iBT
Lots of ECs and leadership positions
I believe great recommendations
My essays were good, nothing great i think

Last year a boy from my school was waitlisted, but was finally accepted and given financial aid. I hope everything works well.

You should go to Trinity360 even though you've already stayed overnight, I'd say. You could get some questions answered and getting to meet your potential future classmates is pretty cool. I'd love to meet some of them! Anyways, I sent in my FAFSA late...do you think Trinity would be able to still offer me some fin aid anyways? Congrats ojin!

atsen, I think you should contact an admission staff to find out if there are additional funds left for students.

danhernan-where are you from?

texas2008-which other schools is your child still waiting to hear from? You are from Texas, right? Is TU considered one of the best schools in Texas or in the West for that matter?

Yeah, I'm going to contact the office of fin aid tomorrow asap. By any chance, does anyone know how much the Presiden't Scholarship amounts to? Just curious...

Well, I dont know exactly how much it is but it can't be less than $15K.
Which other colleges are you also considering?

yeah i was thinking that it would be a good idea to attend 360 anyways. buuuut i have to run the cost by my parents. PLUS... prom is the night before :)

I am from El Salvador. According to Karly Barraza Brocket she really wants to attract Central Americans to Trinity.

Ojin, it was interesting I was accepted at Villanova and waitlisted at Trinity. You were waitlisted at Villanova and accepted at Trinity.

ojin - my D has narrowed it down to between Trinity and Boston University. I have visited both schools with her and while Boston has some benefits I think Trinity is a great value for the education. I'm not sure where it ranks in Texas/West. I have visited Duke, BU, SMU, UNC, UT, OU with my D and Trinity has always been on top for me. My D is a pre-med but also has a lot of other interests and I think Trinity allows you to change your major, do double majors or minors that is very difficult at other schools. The professors seem very accessible. When we went to visit last summer our tour guide was from Chicago area and his father was a professor at a large university in that area. He asked his peers to rate colleges for him in the "warm" parts of the US and Trinity always topped the list. I was very impressed at the Trinity 360 when they spoke of all the visiting professors they bring in from other colleges to speak, Harvard, Princeton, BU, etc.
We are from North Texas...where are you from? I think you made a great choice and hope it works out well for you.

I was accepted to Trinity with EAII, though I'm not sure if I'll be enrolling... the financial aid I've received makes it very appealing, though. Unfortunately I'm still waiting for two of my top schools (BC and BU), so we'll see from there! I was also accepted to Rhodes College, Southwestern University, and UT Dallas.

danhernan- I was waitlisted by nova mainly because I applied to her business school which is extremely competitive to get in.

texas2008- I was going to apply to BU but I ended up applying to Northeastern U whose business programs are ranked much higher than BU. Irrefutably, BU is a great school and I believe BU is better known than Trinity. You and your son don't have a easy choice to make. good luck

texas2008, you mentioned not being familiar w/ TU's ranking. It is #1 in the west for Masters Universities. re program: My twin Ds are both looking at it for pre-vet. Their acceptance rate over the last 10 years has been 100% for students w/ a 3.0 or better. Vet School is harder to get into than Med School so I think a statistic like that bodes well for Med School hopefuls.

Good Luck with this decision.

historymom,
Thanks for the stats. 100% for Vet school is amazing as I know it is much harder than med-school, I will pass that along to my D.
