I’m down to Trinity University and Rhodes College. They are both so similar and I am having a hard time deciding. The bottom line cost is nearly identical after scholarships. Trinity is about 3 hours from home and Rhodes is 9. I like both campuses but Rhodes is definitely more appealing to the eye. Can anyone give me insight on why they prefer Trinity or Rhodes?
I assume you mean Trinity in San Antonio. My son was accepted to both a few years back.
If you want a medical career/research, I think the relationship Rhodes has with St. Jude’s would tip the scales.
The buildings at Rhodes is more ideal college architecture.
I personally find the folks at Trinity more to my liking because I felt it was less formal, less frat. And, I really liked Trinity’s dorms. I think the city of San Antonio offers more to do then Memphis.
That said, if it were me, I’d pick Rhodes just because of the architecture and the Oaks.
Are the requirements to retain the scholarships the same? Does one provide more leeway?
You have two amazing choices!
I would agree with @Longhaul that Rhodes might be slightly better for pre-med (though that also may mean more competition, because that is popular at Rhodes), and Rhodes has a distinctly more preppy-Greek vibe (though given it is an LAC, don’t make TOO much out of this). San Antonio and Memphis are different cities as well. Your choice really should just be based on which you like more.
Thank you so much for your feedback.
