I'm torn between which one of these two schools to apply ED. I want to major in Math/Econ and eventually go on to do a PhD in economics.
1)Which school will prepare me better for grad school?
2)Which school has a better reputation?
3)Which school is more likely to give aid to an international?
4)Which school has better housing?

I will not be able to visit the colleges coz I'm an international student a gazzilion miles away.

I would be interested in hearing the responses.

OP, why do you want to apply ED? Generally, people only apply ED if they are utterly in love with one school above all others, and if they don’t need to consider financial aid. Waiting until RD would allow you to compare aid offers between the two schools, assuming that both accept you. It would also give you more time to research the two. Is there some special reason why you want to go the ED route?

Trinity has non-binding EA. Sounds like that would be better for you.

are you talking about trinity college or trinity university?
because in terms of ranking, trinity university is way lower than occidental, only trinity college is comparable to occidental

Going ED doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t get F/A.

Trinity U in San Antonio or one of the other Trinity’s?

Still…I’d go to Occidental. Obama went there before transferring to Columbia, so people have heard of it more often than Trinity.

How come you are saying that Trinity University is “way lower” than occidental ? If you look at stats they are very similar colleges. Occidental does have a lower acceptance rate 44.1% for Fall 2007 versus Trinity’s 52%. Occidental is smaller than Trinity. Trinity’s SAT scores are slightly better than Occidental. Occidental is more expensive than Trinity. They are both similar schools. It’s like saying Princeton is way lower than Harvard. They both are extremely similar. Even then Trinity College is similar to both of these schools, although I think Trinity College might be slightly better.

You can’t really debate between the quality of both schools, it is more about the feel or preference the person has. I know at least two Trinity U students who chose Trinity U over Occidental.

How about that I have seen Trinity and know that it is nothing special…
