Trinity University vs Occidental College

I'm torn between which one of these two schools to apply ED. I want to major in Math/Econ and eventually go on to do a PhD in economics.
1)Which school will prepare me better for grad school?
2)Which school has a better reputation?
3)Which school is more likely to give aid to an international?
4)Which school has better housing?

I will not be able to visit the colleges coz I'm an international student a gazzilion miles away.

I sent you a PM.

bump 10 char

They are both very similar schools not sure about grad school, very similar in reputation, i’m not sure about ED aid for internationals ask each school, Trinity has one of the best dorms in the nation.

I think for grad schools it is more about what you do than the particular programs for grad school. Occidental just started giving out need based financial aid for internationals so they might really want to diversify. If you are from an underrepresented country like Kazakhstan it could probably really help you.

Trinity is one of the top ten schools for eventual PhDs per 1000 undergraduate degrees awarded. (see table 4 http://www.vanderbilt.edu/econ/wparchive/workpaper/vu06-w11.pdf</a>)

I assume this answer is based on the answer to 1

Trinity gives pretty aggressive financial aid to internationals (lots of money with lower requirements to maintain scholarships than regular students)

Trinity housing is supposed to be ranked as some of the best

agree with the above and would like to add that Oxy’s dorms, while fine and all that are not awards winning and TU’s are.

plus as far as access to cities go San Antonio > Eagle Rock though you can be in LA in about a half hour.

In case it matters, had TU been closer to home in CA my D would have accepted their offer of attendance but she refused to even apply to Oxy. I loved Oxy though and wish she would have considered it. You can’t go wrong with either and best of luck to you.
