trip advice

hi! :D

i just booked my trip. i'll be in new orleans june 5 - june 9 to pick out my future apartment and will be staying at the maison st. charles (btw, their rates are SUPER low this june, so check them out. it's like $79/night which is lower than the tulane discount) thank you fallenchemist! i heard of the hotel from one of your posts, and i'm so glad i chose that one because my first choice was booked. i doubt i could have found a place closer/cheaper.

anyway, just wondering if you have any advice for things to do when i'm there? i visited once before pre-katrina, and all i saw was UNO, canal st, the aquarium, the french quarter, had a coffee at cafe du monde, etc. there is so much to see and do, do you recommend i try to fit anything in? what about top places to eat? oh, i'm assuming tulane has tours in the summer, so i should book one of those.

Emeril’s Delmonico is right across the street from Maison St. Charles

Double check with admissions, but it looks like they have tours at 9 AM M-F. I believe there will be Freshman Orientation sessions during your visit, so your tour might or might not overlap with one of those. But as you say, a call to admissions to book one is the way to go.

One thing you might want to consider is one of the Plantation/swamp tours. We found it extremely interesting. Here are a couple of tour options:

[The Old River Road Plantation Adventure ~ New Orleans, LA](http://www.plantationadventure.com/tour_2.asp)

[The Old River Road Plantation Adventure w/Swamp Tour ~ New Orleans, LA](http://www.plantationadventure.com/tour_general.asp?ID=7)

The second includes the swamp tour. I highly recommend this latter one with the Laura Plantation tour, it is an all day thing.

On another day, you can just walk. Walk through Audubon Park, down Magazine Street, through the homes in the Garden District.

On another thread someone did a nice description of some of the music options.

It will be hot hot hot for all this though. Just be aware and always have water.

Good luck!
