Trip to Japan?

Jonathan, I hope you have a great summer no matter where you choose.

Thanks, Private_Joker, you too. :)

Clean too (they banned smoking in the streets about 3 years ago).

Having lived in Tokyo, I can say that this is completely untrue. 100% untrue. Smoking is rampant in Japan.

No Korean should ever have tolerance for Japan until reparations are paid and acknowledged. Besides, there will not be any wars over it, since both are major economic boosters and business as well as cultural partners with each other; why would one want to blow up their #2 business partner?
Well, here's the problem with that attitude. Korea HAS received the reparations demanded, and has received many apologies. Unfortunately, the Japanese have done a crap-poor job of making this known (for some reason.) I think every PM since Hosokawa has made an apology (even Koizumi, whose idiocy with Yasukuni leads to more trouble, made a public apology.)

I do not like a lot of the social science education here in Japan (I think it's inadequate, to say the least.) But I do know that all but a very very few learn in moderate detail what happened in Korea.

I don't think that it really makes most Japanese students feel much. Most don't seem to really have a whole lot of emotional response to the crimes of the past. The Japanese have a long way to come when it comes to actually moving forward in terms of facing the past intelligently and maturely.

However, more rock throwing and Korean cries of "down with the Japs!" will not help. It will not make the Japanese feel more inclined to look inward. To the Japanese, it's rather annoying to watch a PM make a public apology only to have Korea and China say, without fail, "Not good enough!"

So look man, you can hate whoever you want, whenever you want. Fine by me. But I'll tell you something: If you want to see Japan move forward, and truly become a responsible player in the world (and this will only help Korea), then try to think of better ways to get Korea to deal with the problem. I've given up, since I just get told things like, "You're Japanese, what would you know?! (I'm not...)" or "You just hate Korea!"

Sigh.

mainly because i'm korean and hate everything that has anything to do with japan.
That's about as logical as saying, "I'm Jewish, so I hate everyone!"

I mean, really. If you're Jewish, you have to hate: The Germans, the Russians, the French, the Italians, the Protestant Americans, blacks, and even the Argentinians.

:p

Okay, so now I can finally get to telling the OP how I feel about going to Japan.

Jonathan, I would only go to Japan if you really have a strong interest in the language and culture. Otherwise, you're setting yourself up for a very bizarre trip.

Thanks. :)

Do any of you guys know of any fundraising ideas that I could do?

I could buy lollypops and sell them. http://www.wowfundraising.com/Carousel-Rounds-p-16499.html lol.

A buddy of mine in high school used to buy bulk boxes of Snickers from CostCo and sell them for 50 cents each. That used to be profitable in 1999. I don't know if it would today.

But he used to do pretty well.

It sounds like begging, but if you write a nice letter explaining what you are doing and why you need their financial help to organizations like the Rotary Club or the Lions Club they might help.

Okay, I'll write a letter and see if I get a response. I found the Lions Club, but when I searched for Rotary Club so many different things came up. Which one is it? lol.

I don't know if they're gonna wanna up and give money to a random 7th grader~ maybe a high school valedictorian with tons of ECs and community service, but some random 7th grader...seems sketchy.....

Yeah, it does. I know I wouldn't give a few thousand dollars to a seventh grader. lol.

Does anyone want to read my essays for the application?

LL helped a lot with my essays.

Anyone else? More help would be appreciated. :)

Ugh... come on, guys!

BAKE SALES! ppl cant resist bake sales! at my school, they charge outrageous prices for a cupcake or peice of brownie (some kids talked about boycotting them to lower the prices) but still, every time theres a sale they make tons of money because no one can resist brownies and cookies.

I don't know how I would get to have a bake sale all by myself. lol.

Encuentre un empleo!!!!

Free Translation says:

Encuentre un empleo!!!! means:

Find an employment.

So that means...:

FIND A JOB!

I'm too young. lol.

Someone offer to read my essay now, please. :)

I'll be your best friend! :)

Bake sales or candy sales will never pay for you trip to JAPAN. Bake sales are indeed archaic and losersome. Instead, do LANDSCAPING. That is right. LANDSCAPING. Charge folks $35.00 per lawn mowing-better income, faster you get to the Japanese mainland. Mow grass, pick weeds, manicure lawns = $$$$$ Landscape NOW!

How would I go about promoting my landscaping company? lol

Justinian, would you read my essays?
