I know this is an absolutely absurd idea... but is triple majoring possible? I was consdiering CS/ECE/Math.

I know, thats a pretty insane idea, Im not dead set on doing it, but I am just wondering if its is possible to do.

Hmm, I know a kid at CU Boulder who is doing it. It is taking him five years though, and he is doing Bio, Chem, and Biochem. I'd say that you may have to plan on more than four years, were you to persue that. Even with great course/req planning.

It seems possible, but it would probably take a full courseload (maybe 60 units a semester) for the entire four years even with a lot of AP credit and overlapping courses. I don't know if it's all that practical either... any two or even one of these would probably get you any job that all three would get you. It would probably be a better idea to double major in two of them or just pursue one subject in depth. Excessive breadth can look bad.

this is what I will do if I get in to CMU (triple major). Good luck!! Hopefully there will be some classes you can skip, and some overlap as well. You should probably plan on 5 years...

hahahahahaha

yeah, he is going for his doctorate after this, he currently works at the UPS store.

Its way possible, esp. if you are coming in with AP/IB/Corresondance credits. I am a double major/double minor at CU...just be tricky overlapping your core (gen. ed) credits with your major credits and use the credits for your other majors to fufill non-major req'ts..its very doable, you just don't have a ton of space for History of Underwater Basket Weaving 101 etc.

When do we find out who our advisor is to help us plan triple major schedules? If you take courses over the summers you won't need 5 years right?

it's possible....but youll die

I'm thinking of triple majoring in physics, math, and CS. I don't think it be impossible, but I am expecting a huge challenge. The ironic part is that I didn't even apply to SCS, I just realzied I like CS while I was taking some afterschool course in Java. I might try to transfer to SCS, but I'm not planning on it. But I dunno...math and physics are related and plus I want to take analysis and mathematical studies, so it shouldn't be too bad for me.

In my case, from speaking to people at the 3 departments, I should be able to do it in 4 years if I pack my shedule. .

I'm going to be a ECE/Modern Languages/Biomed and Premed(not a major). It's a lot of work, especially during finals, but doable if you know how to manage your time.

Another thing about triple majoring at CMU is that you need to first prove that you are capable of doing the work. So do not expect to be able to triple major with anything less than say a 3.3 average (random number). Most of the triple majors I have met are at least on the dean's list at their respective departments. Also, if you find that you lose your social life, sanity, etc. while trying to triple I would recommend that you think of alternatives...
