I found out recently (from my BARC) I am supposedly getting a triple room.. :(..

Is it possible to switch to another dorm hall? My 1st preference was San Nicholas, but San Nich does not offer triples, so for sure I am not guaranteed that dorm hall. All I know is, my only possibilities are Santa Cruz, Anacappa, Santa Rosa, and Manzanita, since these are the only dorms that offer a triple (I may be wrong in this information [might be missing a few others])

What is life like in a triple room? I can't possibly imagine how people could live in such a small place... I mean, seriously, how can 3 desks and 3 beds fit in such a small room?

It looks like when you de-triple, you can choose your preference of hall again. You can’t switch to another hall right at this moment to avoid living in a triple at all… but triples are considered temporary so at least you won’t be living there the whole year! That stinks that you didn’t get what you wanted, I know a lot of my friends at other UCs have gotten triples too. Good luck!

I can’t speak for the other dorms but the ones in Manzanita (corner rooms) are bigger (they’re given priority to disabled students, and the extras are used as triples). I lived in one of them during a summer with one roommate and it was huge.

Yeah, the only triple room I saw was in Manazita and it was already de-tripled, and it was much more spacious than I expected of a dorm… which makes sense because there were formally three people in it. Hopefully for you guys, the other triple rooms are slightly bigger as well!
